Super or Turbo

I bought my super this january from a dealer in maine. I got an awesome deal which is why i went with the super.

If i had to do it again i would go turbo. The reason i say this is because you can ride a turbo anywhere without changing any settings. To change altitude with a super you need to change supercharger pulleys to ensure good boost levels at elevation.

After my project was done i have close to the price of a turbo into it. Having to buy pulleys was expensive and changing them is a pain

These brand new kits are being sold for a reason! The new ones are junk! the shafts are breaking on them and they are not being replaced in a timely manner. In most cases it is 6 months or more and in some they are not even covered under warranty. I would stay away from a new supercharger and go with the turbo. Buyer beware if you go with a supercharger.

So what about a used supercharger kit from a 2008 nytro???

I put 200 miles on mine before the shaft broke and caused shavings from the housing to get into my engine and cause all sorts of issues. Not only did I need to remove the SC but I had to pull the engine so I could clean out the shavings. It cost me quite a bit of money. If you look at recent posts on this same forum you will see there is somewhat of a pattern with members who recently purchased the SC and a broken shaft. Just go with the turbo. The sled already has great throttle response especially with the correct clutching.

Hey nytrozula, just thought I would say Hello, haven't run into you since one of last years ride. Really sorry to hear you had S/C troubles, that is really a bummer. :o|
That's really a bad deal after you spend all that extra money to up-grade and then have something like that happen.
Hope we can get together and go riding together again sometime.;)!

Hey newfieNytro, if it is a older kit, I would think it would be fine. Many of us have put on thousands and thousands of miles on these kits with no problems. Seems to be a new problem that has arose just in the last year? It's a shame that it can't be corrected quicker:dunno:

I had a stage 2 kit on my nytro and it decided to sh_t the bed this season. I only had around 1200 miles on the kit. I am going to get rid of the kit and I have already purchased a turbo kit. To me that is the way to go, worst case if your turbo breaks they are very easy to get and replace. When your supercharger breaks you are without it for a long time and they are very expensive to replace. I didn't even get 200 miles on my sled this year and I am done for the season.
I am hoping that I don't have any shavings in my freshly built engine.

Have Rotrex moved their Production to China, or are they buying parts for the SC from China?
Lower price but also lower quality?
I'm only speculating, I have no evidence to offer.
