Which is better thinking about making a fast trail sled should I go turbo or supercharger?

well on the trails i would think maybe super, but overall go with the turbo, i think you will be happier in the end.
Turbo Hands down for everything, Stock compression there is basically no lag. Just slightly stuped to really stupid in a split second.

On which sled the apex listed in your sig?
THe reliability of my supercharger has been amazing. 4 years 4000 miles few very very minor issues. I shimmed my engine and run 91 octane and 10-11 psi of boost. Runs 240 hp turn key.
The only other kit I would like to try would be the MCX290 kit. They shim head and its a rear mount so no heat issues of front mount. However if you run studs they can be a challenge to protect the mcx tunnel parts (intercooler, etc).
Either of those you will have a blast. The super is probably cheaper there are more available used.
Careful once you go boost you will never want to ride another sled again.

I see videos on youtube were the turbo sleds stand on the very end of the track going up hills. Can this be expected with a supercharged apex or does a turbo make more/different power?

Mine will lift the skis at any speed up to about 70 mph. I have the ZX2 set where if I hug the tank it corners on rails, then if I lean back I can stand it straight up, one time it hit the rear bumper and almost came over top of me! I think that its more of suspension set up then outright power though.
Supercharger is instant power feels no different then stock in terms of delivery except 100hp more.
Turbos will have a little lag but I dont think that is a bad thing. The lag might actually help control the sled a little bit better. When I come of a jump and land hard and blip the throttle it takes off again!
Once your in boost on a pull I dont think you can tell the difference unless you racing another boosted yamaha then the turbo will slowly pull ahead and keep pulling. Mine pulls hard up to 120mph then creeps from there. Turbos pull hard to 125 and then seem to keep going forever...
