Need some opinions on supercharger/turbo for 09 nytro mtx. I'm Leaning In the supercharge direction right now but that's based on reading what could be just a sales pitch. I want around the 180 to 200 HP range and to run on pump gas. I intend on installing it myself In spare time so ease without mods are important. Elevations 0 to 2000 feet. I'm also considering the fact that with my stock tank I've arrived home on fumes too many times (150km). So A good kit that includes absolutely everything including directions of course with tank size increase If required would be Ideal. I want to get this ordered ASAP So anyone that can point me in the right direction or offer an opinion I'd appreciate it.
Thanks

I run MPI supercharger with standalone fuel injection system and Hartman Clutching Kit.
I run it @230 hp but there is also a 180 hp (the difference is only 1 pulley size).

Istant and brutal power but FIRST OF ALL with the standalone system you don't really need to set any piggyback efi modul.

Install and turn the key @1000 ft or 6000 ft, with the sun or with a foggy day without looking at a/f ratio and without mod settings.

I'm happy with my choise :)

;)!

Wolfone, that sounds like what I've been already been looking at. I've been on the Hartman website but was not sure if this was the way to go or not. I don't know enough about it to make a judgement so that's why I'm looking for opinions. Thanks

I just spoke with Tom Hartman. Doesn't do credit cards or paypal. Has anyone dealt with him? I don't make it a habit of sending 5k by check or wire transfer without knowing who I'm sending it too. Is he legit?

I bought a stage 1 MPI Supercharge Kit form Tom Hartman last year. You can trust him. I meet him at a snow expo in WA last year. I've been to his place in ID to pick up shocks and track. He has great consumer service. I've also been to MPI in Draper, UT. Great to work with. MPI make a great boost system. They have great instructions that are easy to follow. I installed one myself on an 08 Nytro and a Polaris RZR 4.
I have not work with turbo kits. I couldn't tell you much about them. Turbos have been around longer but supercharge are being seen more and more, cars, snowmobiles etc.
Is there any reason you don't want more boost/HP. I wish I got the stage II supercharge kit. I like the power. At first I thought 200 HP would be enough for me and didn't want to use face fuel. It's not enough and I found face fuel for 5.75 a gallon. It costs to much to up grade from stage one to stage two.
If you are thinking supercharge kit I would talk to Mac at MPI www.mountainperformance.com or Tom at www.hartmaninc.com to see if you could get a stage II supercharge kit and run pollings that would put you at 180 HP. Then if you later deside you want more boost you could get different pollings. IMO that would be the best option with supercharge.
If you have any question please ask.

1000% reliable

I bought from italy and he also supported me during the installation.
Just, he is not hi-tech so no mail, no credit card but big phone support (and belive me that understand my english is not easy).

The same i can say about Heat from MPI.
I've dozen of @mail with my question ... All answered.
Top post-sell service.

Thanks folks. I'm Going with the supercharge from Tom. With a pulley change and Race fuel It has potential of 240 HP, but at my age I'm sure 180 HP should suffice! Thanks for the imput everyone.

Sounds like a good choice, you can't go wrong with the MPI S/C and they really support their product, as well as Tom. Get ready to have the best winter riding you have ever had!!

Just purchased a stage I kit from Tom. What a great guy to deal with, ;)! more Canadian dealers should learn a thing or two from him.(not implying that all dealers in Canada are not good to deal with just some). #$%&* The reasoning Tom does not like to do credit cards for high priced items is he hasto pay a percentage of the sale to the credit card company, so it dips into his profits. If you tell him you will pay the percentage he is good with that and you can pay with your credit card.

LET IT SNOW, LET IT SNOW, LET IT SNOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :jump: :letsnow:

Yes he is a great guy to deal with. I sent him a check and I received my supercharger from him last week. He did phone me to make sure it arrived ok which is a first from anyone I have ever dealt with. Told me to give him a call when I began installation If I needed to.
Definately a great guy to deal with!

Tom is great, MPI is great. Know them both quite well. Be careful trying to get 200 HP at sea level with no race fuel, no matter what kit you go with.

I'm thinking 5lbs/180 HP max on 91 octane at sea level. That is just my understanding from days of reading on the subject. Engine Reliability is more important to me than the extra HP. I just want the extra HP there if and when needed.
