I had an '06 Attak and took your guys advice on setting it up and was very happy. I purchased a dealer demo 2011 Std this summer and would like to ask your advice again. What has everyone done to make it handle sweet on the trail? I seldom if every leave the trail. I allready bought Cobra Head carbides.
What i'm hoping to learn is do you still pull up the strap one hole? how much tension on the shocks? etc....

thanks guys

I have the same sled. Yamaha did a good job with the back end on this one. 2500kms last year and never touched the rear once other than the shock adjuster. I found it had just enough transfer with the stock settings and the power steering makes the front end feel lighter than the previous models. As for the front, I run GYTR"s with the springs backed off. It out handles the old one also. Try it stock before you change things and then jump on a older one to see the diff.

There pretty good out of the box, carbides and tweek the #*$&@ end spring to your weight and fiddle with the shock damping. After one season my shock adjuster cable is f**ked, not going to replaced.

Groomed high speed trails there no better sled in mind.

adjustment

I have an SE (2600 miles) and mine pushed to much in the corners for my liking....pulled limiter up two holes, put on pilots (originals have a lot to be desired) , 13mm bar, front floats at 40 psi.....handling has greatly improved

Just out of curiousity when you pull up the limiter strap two holes, that would mean there isn't any holes left right? my 2012 has only 3 limiter strap holes, it is currently in the 1st hole and 2 holes are exposed, I have seen posts that there are 5 straps? I have an xtx? let me know!

My 11 Apex 128 has 5 sets of holes in the limiter strap. It's set on #1 (longest strap setting) which is stock.

5 holes

The 128's have 5 holes and mine is now set to middle...don't seem to loos e any traction and help keeps front end planted

Up one hole on strap. [2 holes ok as well]

Transfer rod very close to max transfer.

Min pressure on front springs.

SnoTracker carbides.

I hated my 2011 stock my first trip out. Wanted my 06 GT back.

After these changes, I am a very happy camper.

try it stock, learn to ride it stock and it will handle alot better in the rough stuff. the more you pull the staps the more suspension you lose. I used to pull them up all the time then try to figure out why w arms are breakin and don't handle well in rough stuff. let the sled roll, it will plant and turn, just have to get used to it.

Thanks guys. I guess I will ride it stock and see how I like it. I would prefer not to pull the strap tighter as it cuts into the top end etc...
Thanks
