I have done a ton of searching and quite frankly my head is spinning. I am pretty new to suspension tuning. I have a standard FX Nytro. Pretty much all the threads I am seeing are for setting up the RTX. Can some one help me. Maybe give me some basics.

Right now it feels to me like my sled needs the Rebound slowed down in the rear suspension. Through the whoops the back end is coming back up and kicking me in the butt. Does the standard FX Nytro have a rebound adjustment in the rear. I couldn't find it.

Couple questions:

Can some one explain to me what the rear suspesion front spring preload will affect? Right now I think I have lots or preload set on it. What will this do?

How about comp. & rebound adjustments on the front skid shock?

Next it front suspension. What will the preload on the front spring affect? Right now, It seems to bottom out a lot in the 1-2' whoops. Should I just adjust the comp. setting?

One other thing. I have the 144" Hartman extension that relocates the skid back and down. This added a lot of ski pressure. How can I take more pressure off the skis? I have the front limit strap all the way out.

Please don't tell me to search. I have been searching for hours and still can't figure this out. Please help me put this tuning in easy to understand terms.

well i have a 136 kit on mine and on the rear skid i took alot of preload out of the front spring, left about 1/4 of an inch of threads on the rear shock i stiffened up the comression, less wieght transfer and i have my coil set on medium. the front i would have to go look at what i wrote down but thats out in the sled :o| so here is a start for you maybe :drink:

oh yeah the front limiter strap i have on #4 hole with this 136 kit

For reference... mine is a shorty. You may really have to experiment with the 144" kit.

Front Suspension:
I really liked it once I backed off the rebound dampening. I'm out 15-20 clicks from being turned full in. Basically, I found the suspension was packing up going through the small to medium sized stutters. This allowed it to release. Much more compliant. I am a little surpised you are crashing through the travel on the 1-2 ft stuff with the front limiter backed off (I thought the front end would carry through high enough)... so this could be tied to the rear skid putting a lot of pressure up front. Doesn't sound lke you want more ski pressure (more preload on the GTYR's), so you may have to play with the rear some more. Increasing the compression dampening will help... but it could just be a crutch.

Rear Suspension:
I tried backing off on the centre shock. Hated it. I've since gone back to stock, and I am experimenting with more preload there... then softening up the rear torsion springs (see kickback below). I stand up going through the big stuff, so my weight is basically over the centre shock. BTW... weigh 178lbs before gear. Have USI X2's, so the higher preload on the centre spring also helps take some of the agreesivness out of the skis.

There is no rebound dampening on our rear shocks, so the kickback you feel could be from the increased preload you have on the torsion springs. I have sucked up the rear limit strap... but to be honest I am still in the same boat as you... not happy yet... so still experimenting. BTW... on the gas, the sled is OK... it's when you have to get out (ie. coming into a corner) that I have the biggest issues.

Been around in a big circle with this sled, back close to stock again. All shocks are going for a revalve as that is the only solution IMO. Only way to ride this sled hard is to stand up all the time, if you sit on the seat and hit any decent size bump your spine will tickle your brain or if you stiffen it up you will be bucked to the moon due to no rebound adjustment. The rear shocks in the standard are junk IMO, they do nothing well at all. Rattle you to bits in the stutters and bottom like crazy in the g-outs.

My Phazer can drive circles around the standard Nytro in the big bumps !

Rode an RTX and although it is stiff like a board it can rock & roll in the big stuff !

I do not understand how your front can be bottoming as mine never does.

i dont know what every one else has for psi in their floats but i have 90-100 for trail riding(our trails are really bad) and when i wanna jump i bump them up to 100-115 depending on what the snow is like..... and the front never bottoms out and same with the rear suspension, mind you i have spent way too many hours trying to dial in the rear suspension but i now have it just butter

We are taking about a standard Nytro with GYT-R

Don't your arm's fall of running floats at that PSI ?

no.... i dont know any other type of riding.... i still kinda find the 110 a little bit soft for me but the ride of these machines are amazing way better than my 2007 mxzxrs 800......but i would recomend to any one these floats they are cheap and easy to use but they gytr clickers i think for softer you need to re-valve them softer and then just play with the spring or replace it with a harder one
