Is there a special tool that is needed to turn the locknut and spring seat on the gytr front shocks? If there is not a special tool, what standard tool do you all use to turn these? Also, when I do turn the locknut, the spring seat also moves with it. How do you seperate them, do you need two wrenches turning in opposite directions?

They are a pain in the arse. The tool should be in your kit. The hook shaped tool I believe. The locknut is a pain to lossen first but it does come loose with some persuasion.

Ok, I have obviously been misinformed. I bought my 08 nytro used from a private seller. He said that nothing came in the front pouch when he got it from the dealer. I asked my local dealer to verify that there are no tools that are supposed to come with the sled. They said that this was true.

So what your saying is there are supposed to be some tools in the pouch in the nose of the sled, and one of them is for turning the locknuts and spring seats?

Just use a large screwdriver and a hammer and "break" loose the locknut with a few taps. Then you can spin the collar by hand or that may need a little persuasion with the hammer and scredriver also. Make sure you have the sled off the ground, it's easier that way by taking pressure off the springs.

Use a flore jack and jack up the front bumper then ujust.

I don't recall a spring wrench in my tool kit, nor have I ever seen one in any stock snowmobile tool kit. A shock spring spanner wrench will cost you about $10. Here's what they look like. You can find Ohlins spanner wrenches for sale on many websites. It'll work for your Yamaha shocks.
