Hi, I am switching from a skidoo etec to a yamaha nytro. Just wondering if I should have any concerns about the nytro? Thanks.

Hand warmers suck, slider wear, ball joints don't last, control arm bushings, subframes are weak, exhaust donuts, stock skis are junk, starter and fuel pump relays freeze, engine oil overflows into the air box, driveshaft bearings aren't grease-able............Oh ya and lets not forget the horrible tunnel icing........And after everything I still love my Nytro. You have a lot of reading to do and this site is your new best friend

To help simplify things. I would start with upgrading the skis right away. Tuners are good, split rails are better.
The other items mentioned above, although true, can be categorized as 'work in progress'.
I have run my Nytro for 3 seasons and loved it. Each year I have made some changes to tweek it suit my needs, but i keep coming back to loving the sled. It runs solid as a rock and has never let me down on any rides. That alone is worth everything given our short winters.
Good luck.

congrats....which model nytro did you get? you will love the motor but, have issues (different than your skidoo) front end suspension needs to be set-up properly to turn like your skidoo did. all the above mentioned items are true and can be addressed on an item by item basis, same as most other sleds. wearable front end items seem to be more of an issue due to the majority of nytro riders are high mileage riders also.
I got my nytro in 2010 (from a 600 switchback) and would never go back, I love it more al the time, this site addicting, lots of really smart/talented builders, creating some amazing machines on here.
read through here lots of really good reading.

Last season was my first season on a nytro (rtx) i also used to ride ski doo, rode 8500km only parts I had to replace we're the equast donuts so I installed copper ones. What I would recommend are the tuner skis with 6" carbides 1/2" bar,and a must upgrade would be DuPont sliders.
I will never go back. The ride, the quality, reliability really is second to none. Keep it well greased and spray lube all ball joints, moving parts, wire connections and you should be good to go ride after ride after ride.... Congrats

When I first got my Nytro xtx I was a bit skeptical on it's handling.
The three things that really turn the sled into a great sled for me were.
Hygear Triple Rate springs.
6.9 Pilot ski's
Tall windshield.
Excel header, a clutch kit, and larger tank were all a bonus.
Sled was great on and off trail. Great sled for high mileage day rides.
