We use a external wastgate now on Johns Open Mod and I can tell you it will not spool any faster. It will however make slightly more power in upper RPM if properly sized. I prefer the smaller turbo for drag racing. We have pulled our hair out all year trying to get it to run the first half of the track. Mike Knapp#17
