Tach signal wire - RX

I'm going to hook the data logging feature from an FJO controller up so that I can dial in the jetting with my laptop. The wiring schematic suggests the Yellow/Black wire is signal. Is this what you guys have been using, or are you taking the signal from a coil?

The yellow/black works on a VDO style tachometer gauge, but when using the Hot Tach Pro you have to tie directly into the orange wire going into one of the coils. Thanks Allen. The FJO just needs an analog signal. I'll give you a call later, have a few things to go ever.
