I have a 2002 VMAX 600 with a non functional tach. I tired another tach and it does not work either so I assume the problem is in the wiring. Can anyone tell me which wire or wires feed the tach and where I might look for a problem? I searched through the 2 stroke stuff as best I could and could not find anything.
Thanks

Did you look and see if the key is broken in the drive shaft that runs the tach? There really is no wiring for the tach other than the light.

Tach is electric, speedo is cable driven. There is a 4 wire connector that powers the gas gage and fuel gage, plus light. I searched for a schematic bit can't find one that I can make sense of.

Here's from a 2002 SX600 service manual I highlighted numbers 38 and 39 as 38 is your Tach light and 39 is the Tach itself!

Thank you very much, hopefully I can trace things on the sled today. At least this is readable.

No problem! Let me know if you need more of it I had to blow that section up to make it legible.

Using your diagram and another I found I pretty much figured that the Yellow/Black wire feeds the tach itself. Can't seem to be sure where it goes to from the tach, I believe the CDI but not sure.

Confirmed; yellow wire with black stripe, silver dots is the tach driver. Ran a new wire from CDI to tach connector and tach lives again. Thanks
