This was my first year on a Nytro. A 2009 FX. I have my rear springs set to stiff and still feel like the rear is way too soft. And there's almost no rebound to speak of. Is this normal on the Nytros? Could it be a blown center or rear shock?

Seems to be pretty normal on the FX Nytro's. Mine was sagging, figured shocks, went to Hygear and he told me that was somewhat normal that I felt it was sagging, no rebound. We deduced because I had it up on the track caster that was shifting the suspension and adding to it, but mostly just that the torsion is probably a little tired after 6 years and that a new set of springs would help get its butt up more.
Barn of Parts (they're on the site if you want to look Travis up) hooked me up with 1500# springs over the stock 1200#'s so that will help too. Hygear did do my shocks in the end, but only because they were pretty due at 3k and 6 years for a rebuilding. Just north of 250 for all 4 to be torn down, rebuilt, kits installed, and some new seal bushings, so I didn't think that was too bad.
Do yourself a favor, pull the entire skid out if you decide you want to do the shocks. If its an 09 you probably want to just go right thru the skid and tighten up all the bushing to bearing tolerances. Partzilla was pretty reasonable on their prices for the parts and it was about 6 days for them to get all the oddball parts I wanted for bushings and collars and get them to me. Look for a video in the next week showing the entire process of removing the skid, going thru it, and re-installing it along with tips to make the moving suspension parts last longer. I also will be showing how I made my own thrust rods out of 1/4" aluminum and off the shelf dry lubed bushings.

Excellent info. Thanks a million. I'm going to look into those heavier springs. And $250 for all 4 shocks rebuilt seems very reasonable.

Had same issue with mine. Pulled skis found rails tweaked, Travis hooked me up with new rails. I the. Rebuilt suspension, cleaned all the cross shafts off and reinstalled them with new grease. Sent shocks to hygear and had their el Diablo package (trail pro kit) that is pricey but has lots of positive upgrades imo. Also went with muffin works 5stage spring cam instead of stock 3 step cams. But when still on 3 suspension fully rebounded and acted the way it should. Shocks compression and rebound were totally diff than what I sent out. And it rode like a dream after. Also added a set of axis pro shocks to front. Can't say enough good about hygear or barn of parts, all great people great service and quality products.

If replacing torsion springs I recommend installing Hygear's torsion spring spacers. They will help the springs work more efficiently: http://hygearsuspension.com/hygearstore/index.php?type=Snowmobile&c=1&p=1
Also check out your torsion spring saddles and idler mounts. They wear out over time and can cause issues. I just replaced a set and took a few pictures.
