Right now I have an all black aftermarket medium windshield which works great up to 90mph. I have been looking for a taller one in all black, and can not find one anywhere. So after checking threads I see some guys have painted their windshields. How have they lasted? Is there a lot of chipping, and scratching from snow dust, rocks, ice etc? If it worked for you what type of paint did you use? Did you have to add flex to it or a clear coat after? Doing long rail bed runs, and lake runs from 100-120+mph the sled had a lot of drag against your chest, and helmet. The Nytros have never been the best for wind protection stock. Adding the side wind deflectors kept the wind off my legs, now I just need to figure this out. The orange and black I have makes it hard to match also. Thanks for the help guys

I've painted a couple of them. Paint the inside and they hold up really well. I've noticed that they are a little more brittle when rolled over after painting. Seem to lose a little of their flexibility

Scuff the inside using 1000 grit or so, spray 3-4 light coats of Krylon Fusion. Mine held up 1 season and the only scuffing I had was from a not-so-tight screw and the sheild could slide a bit.

I have booth tall and factory mid windshields, you may like the mid better it gives about the same wind protection and is MUCH quieter. You don't have near the wind noise with the mid

painted windshield

I painted mine...definitely paint from the inside.....I paint my with 2 coats of clear effects, then painted the black....now mine looks black but when stopped and the sun hits it it spakles

LOL, they do when done with some class and style. I've seen sleds/cars/trucks with huge metalflake paintjobs like you see on bumper cars and it looks terrible.

I went with Harley Davidson black pearl on my a-arms, rails, spindles, and more.

if you were to take it to a body shop Scuff your windshield with a course 3M scuff Pad clean the plastic well with a Higher quality wax and grease remover spray with adheision promoter then seal with a 2k sealer with a flex agent catalize the basecoat and use the same flex agent that is recomended by the paint supplier PPG, Dupont,Sikkens all can be picked up at your local body shop or paint supplier you can buy by the ounce so you only get what you need iv painted sled hoods and winshields with this system really bullet proof just remember to not hose the paint on but thats only if your looking for a body shop finish if not simple rattle can will do for a year or two if you scuff it right
