i just took my sled out for its first lake run and the temp gauge that was installed well the needle was jumping all over, is this normal or is it a cheap gauge ,it reads fine when your stopped not a big deal just wondering if anyone elses does this thanks
Where is the sensor installed? It might be in an area that fluctuates a lot, or just very sensitive. What temps is it jumping in between?

It sounds like the wires might be touching somewhere and causing a short.
Have a look at where the wires are attached to the temp sender, maybe the wires have come loose. If it seems alright, look at the back of the temp gage and look for loose wiring. If that's not it, then follow the wiring from one end to the other and check for wires that are frayed/rubbing/cracking, etc.
If you don't find the problem, then change it all out.

I aggree with Grimm. If the wiring is grounding out when your moving the needle will jump very erratically. Double check all your wires and the routing to make sure nothing got pinched or rubbed through. Good luck!!
