Ok guys I am new to the Phazer. My wife and I went for our first ride last night and was able to get a hundred miles on, she loved the sled.
Today my father-in-law asked if he could take it for a ride. We went out prior to the rain starting. Temp was about 34-36 degrees. After being out for a little while and playing in a field, he flaged me over and asked what the orange warning light was. It was indicating a temp sensor.
Heavy wet snow, my nytro never indicated temp, the arctic cat riding with us never indicated a temp either. Little help with this one guys. I did not get a chance to look at the anti-freeze level. But like I said it did not indicate at all last night.
Any thoughts??? Thanks.......

I have 07 standard both holes blocked off, with fan update and I still have to stop 4-8 times a day to scrape off the heat exchanger. Sometimes you can hit some whoops or rock the sled from ski to ski to knock it out. I just installed a freeride(1.5") track and we will see how it does.

The bottom line is this is not unusual for this sled as snow packs "around" the heat exchanger in certain conditions and prevents adequate cooling. The fan will help but there are certain conditions where it will be necessary, as pointed out by zrt001, to clear the heat exchanger.
The only consolation I can offer is it's condition specific and doesn't "always" do it.

Re: fan
Some have reported getting theirs under warranty but I purchased mine as I like to save my whine for more serious things.
Yes, the fan is a simple "bolt-on/plug-in" for the FX and GT models while the base model requires a wiring harness to be added.dox06 said:Thanks. Is the fan an update for the 07 then?

I don't recall the cost but the part number is 8GJ-12405-00-00
As for the whine, I've found that if you have a good relationship with your dealer you can get things covered under "Goodwill" that aren't "Official" warranty but you have to whine about it. I currently have 5 Yamaha vehicles so I'm kind of selective where I use my whine.

You should be able to get it covered under warranty. If not call and complain a bit to Yamaha about it. Many people, me included, got the fan free. Do a bit of searching on this forum, I think there are quite a few post about the 07 phazer overheating.

phazer isn't the only sled in the yami fleet that does this...i remember way back when then rx1 got packed up around the rad causing in adaquate cooling. i thnk i might have a way to combat this if you're getting snow packed around your radiator like i am....get a rad guard and over the outside with foam liner, this should keep snow out and airflow decent.
