So what are peoples thought on these two options? Would the kill switch tether be sufficient to protect the engine in a roll over and if so the the rollover valve kit mostly an add on to stop oil from going into the air box?
Also does the Nytro have a Gyro sensor for killing the engine, on my Yamaha bike if it is on its side for more than a few seconds it shuts down the engine, that seems like something that would be good to have as well.

Get the roll over valve. Easy install and safes you from cleaning oil out of your sled. So my vote for ROV.

I just ordered a kit from OFT a couple of days ago, but on backorder right now due to holidays. My vote is for the tether and ROV combo I don't want to clean up oil either or risk engine failure due to loss of oil.

ROV with kill tether. No muss no fuss (mess) Cheap insurance IMHO. There's a thread on here about engine running rough. My belief is that the sled mentioned was on its side and running a little too long (no ROV) and bang blown engine down the road. And they have no Gyro probably because the angles a sled can manouver.

Right so the tether kill switch is the part that saves the engine and the ROV is only the to stop the oil from leaking out, correct?

Tether kills engine and Rov keeps oil in oil tank, look here http://oftracing.com/OnlineStore15/...roduct_info&cPath=45_48_52_55&products_id=101

So why not use a tether and a catch can on the breather hose to stop the oil from flowing into the air box?

Go with ROV with teether from OFT. Great product & quality. Love the one I have & would ride any of my sleds without a teether hooked to me.

Once the teether is pulled (either to just stop the sled or you roll it playing in the pow & can't get it up right right away) the ROV will close & stop any oil from running out the vent line.
If you were to use a catch can it could contain the mess put the engine would now be low on oil & can cause damage. You would have to manually dump the catch can back into the oil tank. Too much messing around IMO. Like said above by canoehead teether with ROV no muss no fuss.

There has been many a thread on here with guys trying different ways of stopping oil flow while upside down or on an its side. And it has led to some catastrophic failures. The one that stands out to me was the NAPA PCV valve. In theory it looked like it might work. In practical it cost him a motor. Yes kill tether will save your motor but you need to pack oil. The OFT tether/ ROV is like my wife says. "The cheapest insurance for the entire motor" There is no improving on the quality, ease of installment or piece of mind when running an OFT ROV. IMHO

Yes I've read many threads on the subject but I don't see how having a tether and oil catch can would cause a sled engine to fail, you would also need to lose a significant amount of oil before it would adversely effect the engine.
So since everyone is pushing the OFT ROV is there a place in Canada that distributes their products?

You can buy a Yamaha one right from the dealer (OFT has a LED light and some upgrdeables). The thing is that these motors are a dry sump type. Therefore it's not that it's really the lose of oil it's just when on it's side or upside down (running) the oil pump is starved and so the bottom end gets no lube. If this happens the chance for the middle rod to peak out of the crankcase in the near future is highly likely. If you want to save money just buy the kill tether kit but the down fall is you must carry spare oil.
Don't know how I could forget but a member on here Mtnviper actually makes these kits.
