next year we are buying a nytro. I dont like the new 08 nytro. What are the good and bad things about these 06-07 nytros? Any replys would be awesome.

Absolutely love mine, but its looking like life changes are making me sell it.. sad

Love mine. Torque is awesome, no top end though (95 mph). Seat is stiff IMO. I added extra wheels to help slide wear. Didn't have the bogey wheel failure yet with 2500 kms. Awesome fuel mileage.

Oh yes, these things eat slides. Some guys get 300-500 miles & others get 2,000+ miles.
I bought mine with 900 miles on the clock. The slides were shot, so the dealer totally serviced it & installed new ones before putting it back on the showroom. I put 400 miles on it last season & 100 so far this year with no visible wear. BUT, I also put on a front & rear wheel kit, and opened up all the windows in the track. It rolls/coasts ALOT better after these mods.
Otherwise I love the machine. Power everywhere, quiet, 20+MPG, rides smooth. They tend to push some under power, but that can be cured with limiter strap settings & 10" carbides.
I'm 31 & like to cruise at a medium pace, but still like to squeeze the loud trigger now & then and the Nytro certainly delivers.

love mine- just the wheels went bad on mine after 250 miles and the slides as well, dealer replaced the wheels free of charge. Stand up dealership imo. Have done some mods to make it handle even better but overall, love the thing. Great torgue, won't win any lake races but nobodys going to take you out of the hole.

My first year with my Vector (virtually the same as the Nytros), I went through 3 sets of slides. After doing the oversized wheel mod and adding an extra set of wheels, my sliders lasted the season and would have gone more had I not put a new suspension in. A definate must is the wheel mod.

Last year first 150 kms and my slides looked like they were done. I replaced them and in another 200 kms they looked like they were done again. Seems they wear to a scary thin amount then stop wearing. I added the fix powersports wheels behind the front idlers and ahead of the rear idlers and no more slide wear (although at that point the slides were worn to almost nothing). I'm going to change my slides before my first ride this year and see how they wear with the wheel kit added.

First set didn't last long for me either, then put on some SLP anti-wear pads and did about 4000 klicks and they're still good at 50%, they really worked for me.

if you are wearing slides on your nytros, you need to run your track a little tighter - they will wear to the line and then stop - I've been watching the slides on my son's nytro for about 500 miles and they have not wore since.

I have 2 questions: How do you adjust the rear suspension? Is it like the vector with the dial? I am 160 pounds.
Also, Is this also a good trail sled? if you make the rear suspension softer?

The RS Nytro has the Pro-Active suspension. It does not have the Mono suspension (with a dial) that you are thinking of. It is a more traditional style suspension with a shock on both the front and rear arms and torsion springs to set your ride height.
It is Yamaha's attempt at a bigger bump suspension, falling short though, and it can be set soft for trail riding, and though not as plush as the Mono, it is a very good trail sled.

Do you adjust it on the shocks like the older sleds? I like the feel of the sled and i am more into trail riding but love the look.

IMO it's a little stiff for a trail sled although that's the purpose it serves for me. The reason I bought this sled was for the four stroke motor and the rider forward ergos (which is what I like about my 04 rev). I didn't want an apex so this was the only other choice. I love everything about the sled except for the stiff ride (which the stiff seat may contribute to this too).
As for adjusting the ride of the sled, the Nytro has a clicker shock in the center of the rear skid which is what you adjust for the ride. I have mine a few clicks from zero and it's still stiff in my opinion but I'm only 155 lbs.
