Just retuned from Quebec where my wifes REV( that a buddy was riding) blew up.. surprise!! Anyway, towed him with my RTX for 80 miles.. its does a great job towing, I could have gone all day. Still got better mileage while towing than the Fusion 600 with us. So far Ive had 4 ski doo motors go to hell in 4 yrs.. I think the wifeys gettin a vector next yr..lol.. During our trip Id have to say we saw better than 5 Yamahas to 1 of all the other brands combined, one group we met told us out of 10 riders in their group, all ten have blown up a ski doo since the rev was introduced, 3 of them have switched to Yamaha all have over 20,000KM on the without any problems.

Don't want to get off topic but where were you in Quebec and how were the trails. Going up this coming weekend, guess I should get a good tow rope. LOL

TT670, how were conditions? A close contact told me you were in Shawinigan. I was at Real Masse Jan 11-14, came home early due to rain & beat up trails (no grooming, too warm).

Any hyfax problems? I went thru 2 sets while in Quebec, only getting ~300 miles / set.

DUDE! What the hell? Seriously did you cut through a set after you took it off to see how much was left?

On the Attak, the hyfax widen out at the point you should replace. When they've worn to that point, there's maybe 1/16" of material left. That's where the second set was when I came back home.

That"s funny. I spent Thursday night helping my son put his MXZ back together. Drop a ring and cracked a sleeve. He had a buddy press in a new sleeve and we reassembled it. Two years ago we put in two pistons and new rings. He also has a Rev 800 and was thinking about tearing it down and replace the rings this Spring. I usually carry extra plugs, but in his case needs to carry extra rings.

We stayed in Shawinigan Tuesday night and woke up to a monsoon rain that lasted all day, they had a solid 8" of water in the streets there whn we left at 11 am and it continued to rain there all day long.. still a great base once they get some fresh on top but until then Id say you need to go further north.. Im pretty sure the forecast is calling for a bunch of snow for thew area so all should be well for next week as long as the icing didnt take down too many trees, we ran into some guys who said Mont laurier, Parent and west got all snow and spectacular, same with Mont Valin. We ended up packing up our stuff in Shawinigan and trailering up about 1.5 hours north of La Tuque and stayed Auberge au Toit Vert between Relais 22 and Roberval, spent the night, woke up to 14 deg f temps and rode around the top of lac st jean on thursday.. trails were flat as a board with some fresh snow on top of a rock hard base, till you got above Roberval, then it was all powder till we headed south again on the eastern side of the lake we hit about 5 bumps...lol. Been going to quebec for 14yrs and Id rate the trails this week from 7-10 depending on where you were, and only a 7 becuse of ice. Never saw snirt or rocks.. never smelled hyfax, they still look good, only got a temp light when lugging the REV behind me on ice and my idler wheels are still like new. Hands kept warm in mid teem riding temps too.

We just returned from St.Michelle des Saints, Quebec yesterday also. We rode 3 1/2 days and put on 640 miles. Weds. we got soaked from riding in the rain, until it switched back to snow later on. Tuesday we rode from the park on 63 to L'Announciation and back. Perfect groomed riding. Thursday we went to Repo, Chateauvert, Kanawata and back to St.Michelle. Much more snow North of Repo. At Repo there were at least 20 Yamahas there, and only a few other sleds. Never saw that before. That's Repo in the first picture, and every sled that is showing in the picture are Yamahas. It's hard to beat these new Yamahas for Quebec riding. Smooth, ride and handle great, large 4-stroke powerband, clean and no 2-stroke smell, and dependable. All 3 of us just love these new Yamahas. I got 16.9 mpg on the way to L'Announciation in 85 miles. Averaged 15.8 mpg for 525 miles. None of us have had any wheels go bad. We all run with the Ski-Doo handlebar gauntlets. Always warm with just small fleece gloves. The smaller gloves are nicer for riding and great for using the GPS on the trail. The only problem I have is a very small leak of oil from the chaincase bearing that the brake rotor is on. My buddies is bone dry. I'll have the dealer fix that this week. 880 miles on my Attak now, and it's the best sled I've ever had and I think the Apex line are the best sleds made. :4STroke:
