The SMELL of plastic melting

check you track tension, do you have the stock track? if so, you might want to check into the slp wear pads and the 135mm wheels

The the sled is motionless not moving just at idle and you can smell a plastic odor.

really?, that's weird, i'd be checking all the electrical quickly

Maybe something plastic fell on the exhaust or exhaust manifold and is melting? Only thing that would be able to melt anything when machine is running but not moving is the exaust?.....unless a wire is shorting out to ground and melting the insulation.... Just a thought...

Is the sled brand new?? If so, it wil go away after a few miles. If not, you may have a tail light wire or something too close to the header.

He means how many miles is there on it. A new machine has a really strong smell for a while and can smell like burning plastic.

If your 07 has barely ever been riden, especially less than 500 miles, then thats probably why it smells.

I've seen this before when melted hyfax gets thrown up on the bottom of the muffler. Once that happens there will be a smell of melted plasted for ages (even if you clean it off well).
