got my rex geared down 1 on top any idea about top speed vrs stock gearind some math head must know.
Thereical top speed with 23 39 gearing or 1 tooth down from

did you mean 23-38 as this is one tooth down on a rx 1 23-38 =119.5 at 10500 23-38 should go 117. 23-39 about 110 113.

8600/1.58*22.68/12*60/5280 = 116.613 mph 24/38-9T <------STOCK
8600/1.65*22.68/12*60/5280 = 111.942 mph 23/38-9T
8600=clutch rpm (aprox)
1.65=gear ratio
22.68=distance traveled in one revolution of drive shaft
12=inchs in a foot
60=minutes in an hour
5280=feet in a mile

i ran on the gun at 119.2 with stk gearing 24-38. note at 10500 the clutch rpm is a lttle higher than 8600 and there is some o/d built it to these clutches from the factory as well.

with 24.38 you can run in the high 120's but you will not reach that without nitrous or a turbo,so what I'm tring to say is your not going to lose any top speed if you go to 23-38 gearing you will just get there faster.

the clutch rpm is reduced the engine turns 10500 but the primary clutch only spins 8600 the primary reduction ratio on a 03 is 1.19 37/31 so if the engine is spinning 10500 the clutch is spinning 8823.5 I was using 8600 cause I undertood that the RX-1 made its peak at 10300 .sooooo.... here are the numbers to reflect the 10500 rpm.
8823.5/1.58*22.68/12*60/5280 = 119.93 mph 24/38-9T <------STOCK
8823.5/1.65*22.68/12*60/5280 = 114.85 mph 23/38-9T
And yes I understand that there is a lil overdrive to achieve but this math is at 1:1 ratio if someone can give me a number as to how far they are getting into overdrive I would be happy to put that to numbers too.Then at that point I would like to argue that the overdrive effect is negligable when compared to the inefficiency of the chassis itself.

Better yet, run a 40 bottom gear and leave your top stock. 40/24 is a 1.66 ratio compared to the 38/23 is 1.65. The reason you would want to do this is because the chain will rotate easier with the larger size gears. The smaller the gear size in circumference, the harder is it to turn because the angles are increased. You can use the stock chain whether you put the 23 on the top or the 40 on the bottom.
