Without question the two best mods Ive done to my 07 rtx are, snowtrackers on my pilot skis, and stretching to a 136 tracks usa extension kit. It makes a older sled feel totally different in a good way without spending big dollars on a new sled. I went with a cobra track and the hookup compared to the ripsaw is unbelievable. No comparison.I might have lost a littly steering accuracy but well worth it.It hooks up so well it does push some in tight corners.I like the way it bridges bumps better than the 121, but still playing with suspension adjustments to get a little softer feeling ride.I think you will have better luck with the mono compared to my pro-active skid.Go for it, you will not regret it.

i don`t know yet if i should go 136 or 144 is it just a case of bolting on the rail extensions, tunnel extension and new track or am i missing something. i`am leaning toward muffin works 144 with the 6degree up angle any thoughts? what about a rear heat exchanger is that needed as well i have the small one on now will it require replacing that one with the larger exchanger. thanks guysAPEX 06 said:Made my 06RTX into a 144" with a setback skid. Good on and offtrail it push a little on trail, off it gets up on top of the snow and gose.

personaly i love the tipped up rails on my xtx great on trail and off. dont know if it will be the same with mw kit others can chime in on that but if you plan on trail ridding as well the tip up rails do what they are supose to do for sure.
im thinking of doing the same thing but the top idlers are different as i compared mine to my uncles attack is it just a bracket or is everything needed ????

It is as simple as putting on the extension items. Buddy of mine went from 121" to 144" tipup rails. I did mine with a 136" Expert X skid set back 3.5". We both run powder pros with 6" carbids and studded tracks. Corners very well, but you need to be willing to try different suspension setting to set it up. Mine handled like crap until I found the right settings. Know we can play in the powder and tear it up on the trail.
I don't have a rear heat exchanger and I've never had any over heating issues.

136 or 144
thats what i`am wondering i would rather go 144 from a 121 but is there a geometry problem with the track cycleing through the suspension travel going that long with a 121 suspension any ideas, if this is a problem maybe i should just go with a 136 extension any help would be appreciated guys thanks

Two years ago I extended my 121 Viper to a 136 with rail extensions. I spent almost the entire season trying to dail the skid in. It was a give and take between the front springs and skid. Once I had found the right combo it was an awesome ride but I wasted alot of precious riding time.
The problem with the extensions is that it screws up the geometry of which the skid was design to run in. Everything acts differently. If I were to extend another sled again I would get a skid that was a true 136 or 144. That way I could take advantage of the engineering that went into making the skid. The adjustments would be more predictable and thus easier to dail in.

CURIOUS... I thought that the only difference between the stock 121" MONO and 136" MONO was the rails. I'm sure I read that you only need to put on the extensions / or put on 136" rails(and new track!) to extend to 136" - no changes to skid location. Can someone confirm this???

was it necessary to set your skid back ,did you gain anything by doing that and if so how much did you move it back?APEX 06 said:Made my 06RTX into a 144" with a setback skid. Good on and offtrail it push a little on trail, off it gets up on top of the snow and gose.

Primary benefit is the approach angle. The apex has a very steep angle. Which is fine for groomed trail. Once off trail in a couple foot or more of fresh snow it tends to dig down. When it's set back, the gradual angle allows the track to climb on top of the snow. The running boards angle up so with the skid back it allows the track deeper penitration. When you dig down the running board pack the snow underneath and your stuck. The apex/attak tunnel pack up with snow very quickly. Tunnel extension raise the tunnel and angle upwards giving better Clearence for snow to escape. To do the setback you only need to extend you skid to 7.5" by ordering121" to 136" kit.

You move it 3.5" if I remember right and down 1/2". Been ride it with this set up for three years.

The rear arm setup is different. Most notably where the upper wheels are mounted. On a 121" they are on the rear arm. On a 136" they are on a separate shaft.
