Now that I have had some time to go over my new ride I thought I would share some of my thoughts. The specs say the dry weight is 531lb and curb weight is 611. The sled sounds amazing. Raspy crackle! The side panels are easy to get on and off once you do it a few times. The main hood section is a pain in the A$$. Need to remove six torx screws and unplug the wiring harness. I think if you have to access anything at minus 30 and full of ice etc. it will be difficult. The fit and finish is not Yamaha for sure but not bad. The front bumper is flimsy, don't pull on it to hard side to side because it will bend. The wiring harnesses looks ok but again not Yamaha quality. I am very happy with it overall. I am not going to do any upgrades until I get some seat time. Only other thing is there is no plug in for the heated visor. The sled looks wicked! I don't know how to post pictures. sorry.

Thanks for the sled review. You Should be able to ride soon and let us know how the LTX SE runs and rides.
I'm glad that the sound has improved, the Viper prototypes they had here last spring sounded choked. The first thing I was going to do was look for an improved exhaust, looks like I will save some money for other enhancements.
Does the tool kit come with the torx driver necessary to remove the main hood section?
Check with your dealer or online for a plug that will go into the lighter hole that has the correct Motorola plug. I've seen them with 2 USB plugs which I will use for camera and GPS so you may be able to find other options. I will check around and let you know if I find anything.

My sled just came in and so I paid for it today however I won't have a chance to look at it again for another week as I'm out of town on business until a week from Monday. Anyway, can you tell if it's possible to replace those Torx screws (and whatever they screw into (U Clips/nuts perhaps) with a Dzus fastener/backer solution? If so, that may make it easier.

The torx bits are in the tool kit.
The 12VDC plug is controlled by the key, I like my shield plug hot all the time. Helps to leave helmit unthaw on sled during those freeze rain/sleet days when you are stopped.
At the moment my plan is to add an inline fuse at battery( maybe about 20 amp.) then run wire(s) under seat up the steering post, add 5 amp. fuse and the shield plug. My also add 2nd 5 amp fuse and 2nd 12VDC plug for summer maintenance charger, etc. This way won't have to unplug anything when removing top hood.

You don't have a 12 volt plug? Although I opted to have my dealer last year on my procross wire mine solid, instead of the rca plug I have on my apex, because mine always loosens up on the Yamaha, now it stays plugged in 100% of the time. The weight you show looks to be spot on,if you do the math using 6lbs for fuel and the weight of 556 with 2 gal. of fuel in it it works out to be 607lbs if you add another 8.5 gal to that number, the hood is somewhat of a pain in the butt, but compared to removing the complete compartment on an apex to get to say the battery, its a piece of cake, but while you are under there see if your viper still has a tube style air filter like our procross does.swamp hog said:Now that I have had some time to go over my new ride I thought I would share some of my thoughts.
