I have an '08 MTX and just purchased a used Timbersled skid with 162 rails. I was looking on the website and found an update kit for pre '10 skids. Has anyone done this or is it needed? Thanks!

I was told by someone who no longer works for Timbersled back in 09 that if you had a problem with bottoming the rear suspension the update kit was a good idea because it actually changes the mounting locations of the shocks which stiffen the susepension up by something like 20%. You do have to drill the rails to move the lower arms mounts forward on the rails.
However recently i had a conversation with Allen about updating the rear arm to the new style arm and/or updating the nylon bushing on the back arm. After explaining to him that mine were starting to slide out of the rear arm. He told me that the update kit would help this issue which is known issue on the older mountain tamer kits. the kit includes collars that hold the new style bushing in place. You cant just replace the rear arm to the new style though which is a bummer
So if you are having issues with either the kit bottoming out or if your bushing are falling out of the rear slide arm i would say it was worth it. I think i am going to get the kit here in the near future just because my bushing will no longer stay in the arm itself hope this helps
I haven't installed the skid yet. Been trying to get all my parts ordered as work has been busy. I think I'm just going to do it. Been in touch with OFT and will get them coming this week.
Thanks!!
