Am I the only one that has a hard time to clutch this sled? I've been running d&fs for 3 years and there isn't one day that it will pull the same or have the same rpms. I tried going back to stock this year and when I put them in it jumped right to the limiter. I tried it yesterday with same conditions and it would jump from 8800 down to 8400. I really do not understand this sled! I had a fusion 600 before and I had no problems clutching that sled! I even tried a skidoo 1200 this year and no matter what speed you were going, when you pinned it, the rpm would jump to 8000 rpm and stay there. I wish mine did that! You'd think with added hp there wouldn't be such a big difference in rpm! Im at the point where I'm looking to sell it and jump back on a Polaris. It's not just that issue that's making me change. The ride quality compared to other sleds and the constant fear of bending the front end if I hit something hard. Slides burning up and sticking to my drivers causing my track to jump. It just goes on. The only thing I managed to fix was the handling issues with deuce runners. I'm sorry to bring it down so much, but that was my experience and I'm fed up. It's a reliable sled but the time i spent and some cash needed to make it perform like it should, I figured I'd be pleased with it but I guess I was wrong.

Thanks for reading.

Roger, different conditons will affect clutching greatly...I too had issues this year, tried gearing and a helix and it didn't really pan out...that's why I'm going back to what worked the first year...Turks DnF black spring set up with stock secondary and stock 21/39 gears.

On a side note...Revster runs almost the same set up as you ( but has K&Ns and a 136" trck ) and has had great success with the Schmidt Bro Stage 2 kit. I recall Turk saying that DnF's are for someone who like to tune...not so much a "set it and forget it" kit

I understand that its not a set and forget kit. Trust me, i spent a number of hours trying to get it dialed in. It just wouldnt wanna work. The only time it worked right for me was when it was completely stock. She also started popping at WOT yesterday. PITA!! Its a 4 year old sled, so i dont really wanna spend any more in kits or upgrades for it. I for got to mention i sold the Intense track. Im running a 1 inch track now with studs. It should pull that track with ease.

Don't know what to tell ya...I had zero issues last season, clutching was spot on except in fresh powder.

I'm wondering it the popping you are experiencing has something to do with the head mod...that would be my guess...as for clutching..some guys have a tough time with the DnFs..oh well, good luck with what ever you choose!

I would start with a better clutch kit......I never had good luck with those........one thing is and I had very good luck with is put a polaris clutch on they work awesome done it on rx1 and an apex ....Or you can get a pin kit and run polaris weighs

I'm running heavy hitters right now and it is working awesome may want to give them a try

Good luck with it ;)!

Well I ended up selling the nytro and I just bought a 2010 Polaris iqr 600. The nytro was a reliable machine and fun to hear that exhaust tone but I needed a change. I hardly trail ride so I figured this sled will fill my needs and have a good fun factor! Thanks for all the help I received on this site! It made sledding that much more fun!

Why were you trying to hold the rpms constant?
It's not a 2 stroke and puts out max torque in a much
broader range.
