Make sure the 800 has the piston update done or you will be rebuilding. They are known to push the pin in on the pistons causing the ring to spin you know what happens then. It is a recall my buddy is going through this now. There are some other issues as well with them can't remember what they all were. Good luck with it nice machine and fast. I was a doo guy for many years got tired of rebuilding my 600 h.o. so I decided to try a nytro and love it, wrench on everything else but the motor which Is what I was after.

I really like my Nytro.
Still on the fence if I should sell it or let the wife ride it.
There is no reason that I couldn't keep it.
Other than Yamaha should have some new cool stuff coming down the pipeline soon enough.

I don't know where you are in Ontario but I can't give my Nytro away lol. Its been on Kijiji for months, priced reasonably with the rest on there. I've had one person come take a look, low balled me and left. Everyone wants it for 2 grand less than asking price like its some old POS from decades ago. New Viper killed the resale value of them, that's reason enough to hang on to it.

You must be looking at it wrong.
Look at how many seasons you rode and take off approx $1500 for each year.
Then you get close to what your sled is really worth.
Anything higher than that is a bonus.
Kinda like a cheap rental.

Sales on sleds as a whole I think are down in Ontario, seems like people wait to see now what the winter is going to be like before making a purchase on a sled also with all the job losses lately its hard to spend that kind of money and not get a lot of use out of it. I notice more and more older sleds on the trail cheaper trail pass, cheaper insurance, etc: My buddy just sold his 01 ZX for $2700 or around there had it on there for one day. I've also been helping my buddy find a new Doo and I noticed there has been a lot of the same sleds (new or newer) on kijiji for months so i don't think your alone. hang in there when the snow starts to fly i'm sure you will have more inquires. Some people just don't buy the whole 4 stroke thing yet either. I know I was skeptical but I don't think i would go back to a 2 stroke now it would have to be something really special.

I felt the same when I upgraded last year to my Nytro. I kept my 07 Renegade for my kids. They are way too young for it now, but when I calculate what I'll get for it today and what I'll pay later for a sled I don't know anything about, I just decided to keep it. I can only keep so much stuff, but this will work out fine in the long run. I think prices for quality used sleds hit a floor at a point in time and around here it had been two grand for a while, but now I'm seeing it higher and higher. I'd bet four grand for my renegade would be close when snow flies with 4900 well cared for miles. Bottom line for my thought is, I don't think you will lose much money by keeping your well upgraded Nytro for a few more years. I think there will always be people wanting a Genesis four stroke regardless what chassis it sits in. I don't think the yamacat will hurt at all, it might even help with values.mach9 said:I really like my Nytro.
