Timing Chain Help Needed

marks

Thanks I had thought of the key being sheared too. However, I just took it apart and the key/slot are both good. One thing I noticed though is the crank has a dimple on the other side of the crank, next to the timing gear drive collar that also lines up, but not exactly, with the pointer/alternator mark at TDC. Curious. I am really wonder if the chain could be stretched. I don't see any way to measure other than just replace it. Seems hard to believe as it is tight, etc. and sled only has 1700 miles.

I see a problem....correct me if im wrong, but in you intake cam, pic, the exhaust shows no signs of marks being lined up. All mark should be in line with the head.

Its off same amount as intake.Hard to see the marks on ex in intake cam pic. Here is both at once.Angle of camera can play tricks. Its definitly not a tooth off but is off enough to wonder why. Both are same. You sure guides are in right and not broke?

Guides

Yes, it is hard to take picture at the right angle, but both lines are off by the same amount and are not parallel with the head line. Thanks for reposting the pics together. Yes, a worn or incorrectly installed guide would certainly cause this. The motor is apart now and I specifically looked for that. There is no wear at all in the black rear guide. It was installed in the top notch of the head and slid down in the holder near the crank. From what I can tell it was functioning right. The other guide which the tensioner pushes wasn't worn either but that wouldn't affect this issue because the tensioner would just push it over farther.

I am still left with a worn chain as explanation???

While I agree it looks like it has not skipped a tooth, when I advance the cams one tooth, the lines are sloped down just as much the other way which leads me to wonder if the chain is stretched is that the correct position?

Thanks members for all the help!
