I have four 4-stroke snowmobiles in my fleet:
2003 RX-1
2007 Phazer FX
2007 Phazer Mtn Lite
2008 FXNytro MTX
Here is my question. I am planning on changing the oild and filter on the two mountain sleds because both got ridden around 2500 miles this winter, that is a no brainer. Now the RX-1 and the shot track Phazer only got ridden about 150 miles each, just enough to run some fuel through and make sure things didn't have a chance to sit in the same spot and rust/oxidize/corode.
Would you change the oil in the 150 miles sleds? With the cost of oil, I am thinking I might not. Didn't think I would even change the finter, but am having second thoughts. I am normally very particular when it comes to services. I do everything overboard.
What do you guys think?

changing the oil after 150 miles is a waste of time and oil. its still new so dont worry about it.

I would not change the oil after only 150 miles. Would be just wasting oil.

Doubtful unless he starts the engine many times without letting it fully warm up. Summer is warm and dry with little to no condensation.rage man said:could collect moisture over the summer tho thats why you shoud do your oil changes in the fall not spring

Don't think I have ever heard anyone say you should change the oil at the end of the storage period. Thought the point was to get the acids and moisture caused through the cumbustion process out of the engine and away from being able to sit in the bearings and cause issues. That is the only reason I even considered changing the oil.
I plan on riding these two sleds just about 150 miles each year, just to keep things running. Or if we get a real low snow year, just as trail sleds. Not an issue this year. Anyone interested in a ride this weekend?????

If you are concerned I would change it for peice of mind, especially if it is conventional oil or a blend. Full synthetic is a different story

I would not change No point or benefit to such a short interval oil change.

Waste of time if oil is clean. Bout once a month I spin the clutch a little by hand so the same valve springs are not held open all summer.
