Went to put my street bike into storage and take my 2006 nytro out of storage and It would crank but wouldnt fire sprayed some Gas into the carbs and it would run briefly So off come the carbs then the float bowls 2 pilot jets and 1 main jet were completely plugged this ethanol fuel Is some wicked stuff fuel stabilizer doesnt even touch it so I cleaned the carbs and jets drained the tank fresh fuel and a can of sea foam and all is well Used Stabil last season going to try startron fuel enzyme treatment at the end of the end of this season as this is clearly going to be an issue as these ethanol blends get stronger I like the sea foam as a mid season cleaner but dont think it is strong enough for storage any one use startron product.

storing fuel systems full these days might not be the best idea. personally i think it's a better idea to drain the carbs as opposed to storing them full. just today i was working with a bike that had been stored full with treated fuel and had to disassemble the carb to clean it. i left the tank full (steel) but drained the carb dry.

I found out before last season that even a heavy concentration of Sea Foam didn't cut it. For storage coming into this year I used the Startron (??) product and so far so good. Sled has started and ran without any issues.

I think that after this coming season I'll run the carbs dry and drain the tank. I have fuel shutoffs so running the carbs out of gas will be fairly easy.

Surprised to hear the Sea-Foam didn't cut it, I have used it for a few years now and haven't had any issues what so ever.

I also remember reading where someone did a ingredient/msds or something similar and found out the Startron is basically the same as Sea-Foam, only the Startron is alot more expensive!
Just saying. ;)!

I run Stabil thru my Rage when I put it away in the spring and drain the carbs. It is pretty easy to drain the carbs with the air box off using a small piece of hose and a small cup. When it is stored this way, and with blowing air into the fuel line vent hose, it usually fires pretty easily. G.B.

Help me out here peeeeeeeze.. I've heard about this blowing into the vent tube before.. Is it located near the secondary clutch? If so It appears I need to take it off the alum tubing? MM.

Yep, it is right behind the secondary clutch. You need to slide the small hose clamp up over the bump on the aluminum tube and pull the hose off. I dont own a compressor so I just pucker up and blow some air into the hose. A coupe puffs usually does it. G.B.

Been use'n seafoam ever since stabil failed me well over ten years ago... We be'n from a huge corn produce'n state have been feed 10% ethanol for years...(and yes it does suk)

So does it idle fine now?

Yes the sled idles normal now

has anyone also noticed that in past years when fuel was left in the tank (and i only mean a gallon or so) when you get out the sled for the fall there was always fuel still in the tank it smelt stale but it was still there. now when i pull the sled out of storage the tanks are completly dry including the carbs i think the alchol is evaporating quicker than the straight fuel. my friends powersports shop has seen the same thing all of the sleds coming in are dry.
