Top speed is 70mph

Your gearing is 21/49. Your top speed you can achieve is 76 mph @ 9000 RPM. your not that far off. the only thing you can do is change gearing to achieve more speed top end. 21/41 like the XTX wil net you 92 MPH. you will also have to use an 86 tooth chain.

With the 2.6in lug why do you want to go faster than 70mph. These machines are purpose built for mountain riding not lake racing

If you change your gearing to the XTXs gears you'll lose a lot of your bottom end, and have to reclutch

Well tricky nick...I bought this model for the length of the track... We do a lot of back roads riding here and its usually about 3' of snow. Also I want to have decent gas mileage when going on long rides...therefore if I change gearing I hope to accomplish this.

You might think about going with a smaller lug track or even cutting your track down to 2" or smaller for better gas milage because you're going to get a lot drag from that track at high speeds, and i would imagine a lot of vibration too

At 21/49 tooth sprockets and a 7 tooth track driver your top speed should be about 75 mph so you are close. If you need top speed you need the sprockets and chain (like what came in an XTX for example)

Our Red Viper runs the 2.6 Powerclaw and I do not notice any more vibration than the 1.6 it came with. I am sure it has more drag, but I do not feel it in the seat of your pants dyno.

My top speed on the gauge has been 82mph. It runs out of gearing fast. The turbos just getting going and then bam your topped out.
The good thing is it will go up hills in 6 feet of powder at 70mph :)

You may just want to try and change your drivers to 8 tooth and keep the same gearing. This will get you mid 80's and more efficient spin of the track which nets better fuel economy.

The 21/41 gearing tends to be a belt burner with long tracks. Doesn't have enough gearing when the snow gets thick and actually takes some power to sling.
