800 miles on my Phazer and the torsion springs are shot - 4 inches of free play in suspension and ride height way off. My dealer is thinking of substituting the Apex RTX torsion springs, if they will fit.

This approach is necessary because apparently Yamaha is not willing to upgrade the torsion springs under warranty to a heavier spring, but will only provide the same springs, which are weak and will only fail again.

At any rate, has anyone used the Apex RTX torsion springs in a Phazer FX? Will they even work given the difference in travel?

This is interesting news to me. Mine doen't seem to be saging yet. Let us know if you find out about the Apex springs.

I had the new link installed 200 miles ago. The torsion springs are shot. When you lift up on the back of the sled, there is no resistance for about five inches.

Check if the spring keepers(loop behind idler wheel) are in the front hole. But mine had this right from new unless springs were cranked way up to high.To me its a good thing. Why have sled higher than need be unless you cant get your sag needed.

Okay thank you.Interesting finding.I just had the updated linkage installed rode it and have been checking everything over. Before the update I installed larger coupler blocks in the front of scissor to take up the slop when rear of sled is lifted up.I am not talking sag. This was like there was no spring or shock at all.Well after updated linkage it is gone. There is still sag but it is controlled right till track comes off ground. This is with the stock couplers.Spring still on soft like before.Must have been a geometry change.
