I like the idea of a tour buddy mounted under hood alot better than on the tail section. I wonder how hard it would be to fit a tour buddy like that??

I think i may go with the kolpin fuel pack jr with an exhaust turnout. I will need to relocate the tailight but there are a few posts on here that show using the stock tail light and moving it to where the reflector on the back is located above the flap.

In my neck of the woods, 1.5 gallons would be plenty to fuel me to the next stop. I know that is not the case in Canada with stops much further apart....
Another option would be

Not quite as clean of a look as others but may do the trick.

I don't expect an under hood tour buddy to be designed any time soon. I have the rear mounted tour buddy on my 08 mtx.
I strongly recommend either the replacement tank or tour buddy for those running distances of 80+ miles between fuel stops.
I would have purchased the larger tank had it been available when I bought the tour buddy simply because I'm lazy and I'd rather stick fuel in one hole instead of two. The tour buddy works fine and I also relocated the tail light and put a rack on the sled behind the tour buddy.

That's what I did with mine after I made my rack for the back. The mounting holes for the reflector are the same for the brake light.
