So I was hoping that the Ice Attack 1.5 from Ski-Doo would fit my new Winder but the Camso Rep said they would not recommend it (other thread) and I do not want to derail STAIN's thread but am seemingly at a loss on what to do here.

I have a Winder LTX that is in and ready to pick up whenever.
I will be putting 6.9 Pilot Skis on as per Rockerdan's thread.
I ride mostly trail but live on a lake where the snow gets pretty deep and the snow from the lake to my garage gets quite deep and is a pretty good incline.
I am in Northern Ontario.
I want a pre-studded track not studs. I am just looking for some safety.
I had the unstudded 1.6 Cobra on my Viper and quite liked it.
I am not looking to break any land speed records so a few kph here and there will not influence my decision.
I don't plan on bumping the hp (as of today)
I ideally don't want a poor quality track that will blow apart in the first 100 miles.

I am looking at a 1.6 Ice Cobra, 1.5 Ice Storm (Camso rep recommended this) or even considering the 1.22 Ice Attack (Not sure that it will be enough lug for the deep stuff to get in and out)

What do you guys think.

I'm in the same boat as I have 10000kms on my current track. I wish they made the pre-studded tracks in a 2 ply. I really want to go with the Ice Storm but am leary of the 1 ply.

I am wondering how much the 1ply vs. 2ply actually means? Is it a red herring? The '19 LTX LE Winder came with a 1.6 Cobra stock that is 1 ply. Given that I have no plans for studs, I may discount that as an issue.

I ran the Ice Storm 150 on my sled from day 1. I Put 1,660 miles on it last year doing all trails in Northern Wisconsin. The Ice Storm is 1 ply, but it looks brand new and not a single problem with any lugs ripping or any delamination whatsoever. Last season was stock, but this year boosting.

I have the 1.22 Ice Attack on my 128” apex, awesome track for someone who doesn’t want to run studs but still has control on bare ice.

So far I haven’t had issues of losing control on icy lakes or ice roads but I wouldn’t recommend it for deep powder off trail riding as it’s only 1.22”

Camso told me the 1-Ply tracks are NOT an issue on these sleds.
I believe they are rated at 140 just like the 2-ply

Don't quote that, it was 3 years ago.
He said it was rated at the same speed as the 2-ply as long as it wasn't studded.

I'm also interested in the Ice Attak 1.22. I only trail ride, no drag racing. I'm just looking for a little more bite in the corners and for stopping.

My worry with studs is that I'll have to put a lot of them in to avoid breaking them, especially once I have it tuned.

Ya, I think because of the deep snow I have to get through from time to time, it would eliminate the 1.22 (I really wanted the Skidoo 1.5 to work for me) so I am torn between the Storm and the Cobra. Possible quality issues vs. soft lugs I guess.

Don't listen CAMSO.

They do know that this track is not for 200hp sled.... they delaminates at high speed

Single ply track are NOT made to go over 100mph for a long period of time.

they ballone and stech extremely fast:-/

I am close to several prominent speed racing teams from Minnesota one of who has been racing a speed-run Winder. They told me 2 years ago that under no circumstances should I run a single ply track on even a stock Winder, much less a boosted one. They told even on a relatively short speed run (1350-1500 ft.) they have seen those tracks explode. In the name of winning, for sure they would run a single ply just to save weight and rotating mass IF it worked. But it doesn't. They say even a 2-ply has a finite life above 100 MPH, which gets shorter and shorter the more studs you have. I believe them and will never use a single ply track if I ever am planning on doing much high speed running, whether on a track or just on lakes. How many of us have experienced a track explosion at high speed? It's scary and potentially lethal. I'm sticking with 2-ply on my boosted 998.

So would it then be better to buy a regular Storm or a 1.5 Rip 2 and put iGrips in? Would the iGrips tear up my garage/trailer? Just trying to take advantage of folks that know more than me on this subject.

any studs will scratch concrete and wood when you spin the track pre-stud and I-grip included. the difference is conventional studs dig deeper.
