Plan to do a 136” conversion on both my ‘03 RX1 and my ‘06 Nytro next spring using TracksUSA kits. Already ordered everything.
Are there any specific or specialty tools needed to do the work on either of these machines? If so what is the best source for said tools.
Thanks to all for any assistance

Does either sled have a rear cooler? If so, you will need to move it to the rear of the extension. When I did mine years ago, I just used heater hose to extend the rear cooler lines.
An air rivet tool will make your life easier also.

I have an air riveter already.
I’ll move the coolers for sure, no plans to stud either machine afterward.
Is there any specific tools I’ll need for chain case disassembly or anything else?

X2 on air riveter and most times you can find an inexpensive one at your local Harbor Freight. Also, if wanting to re-torque the nut on the top gear in the chain case, you will either need to find a deep well 36mm socket like the one I have or make one (redbeard makes a post in this thread on how he made his).

Those last two images weren't of my RX-1. Although, it is black, I added reverse to it after picking the RX-1 up from dealer. Would have had dealer install it the OEM kit but then Yamaha would not cover it under their Y.E.S. so I opted to do it myself. My dealer was cool and understood and even provided me with the pages from the service manual which helped a ton. Now, I can disassemble/reassemble the chain case like back in the day of Happy Days where Fonzi reassembled his motorcycle after loosing his vision. If you become a VIP on this forum, one of the perks is having access to a service manual.

I have the full printed dealer service manual already for the RX
Is there any differences between the RX and ‘06 Nytro?

Here's a link with the dimensions. Can you tell me the length and depth of the 36mm socket that you have? I’ll find one locally
For the most part, the internals are the same but if anything is different, it would be the reverse shifter mechanism. I no longer have the Nytro and don't recall if it was the same as the RX-1/Apex.Is there any differences between the RX and ‘06 Nytro?

This seems like an obvious one, but an impact wrench. I did my first apex track swap with traditional ratchet. You feel like you are spinning forever when removing the chaincase. A 20v impact made that portion of the work way easier and faster on the second one.

Then the image of the chain case disassembled on the bench will be very similar to what you will find in the Nytro; reverses just has an extra bottom gear and those two smaller inter-locking (ie. sort-of) gears. The RX has reverse, the Nytro does not

don't worry about moving the cooler pipe if it has no rear cooler. the rx warrior used the rx1 mountain cooler but it just mounted up in the tunnel behind where the pipe was mounted.
chain cases should be the same on both sleds with reverse.
on the 03 rx, i would grab a big ratchet strap or a small come along like this
for installing the rear most suspension mount.
