Well after 17k miles on my original track it's time for a change. Gonna go with a pre-studded track. I am going to do the change myself. Any tips or other things to do while I'm changing it would be appreciated. The sled is all original 2011 apex. Probably gonna replace all the shocks and powder coat the skid, and new battery.

That's a lot of miles! I'd do the driveshaft bearings while it's out. Rebuild the shock, powder coat is a good idea. Check bearings in the bogey wheels while it's out. Hyfax....sounds like u ride alot! Good luck with the project!

You will love the ICE ATTAK XT.
X2 on all bearings.

I did the same thing to my 2011 this summer except I had only 3500 miles. New ICE Attak XT added and driveshaft bearing replaced. I only have one season on my M-20 skid so those bearings are all fine but I would not hesitate to replace them if I owned your sled with that many miles. Dupont slides all the way!

Yes while you are in there change out every bearing in the chaincase. Also change your driveshaft and jackshaft bearings.
Use the factory yamaha bearings and your good for another 11000 miles

I'm looking at the schematic and confused as to what bearings they are. I wanted to order them but unsure of which ones. I know the speedo bearing, but what about the chain case side. Is it bearing 24 or bearing 3 on the schematic, or both?

I would replace all shaft bearings if I were replacing chain case bearings on my sled. I would not replace the bearings relating to reverse gear engagement.

Looks like there are two bearings at the top.

I replace all the seals in the case along with the above mention bearings. These are both wear items.
Take a good look at the chain as well. With that type of mileage it may be worn/stretched out.
Also look at the skid bushings. I bet they are worn.

I have an 11 as well, and at that mileage I would recommend you have a look at the 2 extrovert drivers located beside the main drivers while you have the drive shaft out. I have 16,000kms now and from what I see on mine at least, the extros do wear quite a bit on the driven side. There is a wear limit for these shown in the manual, but hard to decipher what/where to measure accurately.
If you're going that far, I would change them out. Keep in mind, they are "handed" so they can't be simply turned around and use the opposite side of the teeth. The teeth are not in sync with the main drivers so if you were to turn them around, they would not be functioning correctly.
Also, If you are working with a decent dealer, they should know and be able to order you the complete set of bearings for drive axle and chain case including seals, saves you doing the guess work.
Cheers.
