I'm putting an RX together for my boss and I'd like to get a few opinions on tracks and HC kits. We are getting ride of the stock track and he runs mostly trail and lakes but he wants to be "fast". The same goes for the HC kit, I need some helix and spring recommendations. If you've done it and it worked, let me know.

9830 track unstudded...stock gearing....54/42 Dalton helix....silver secondary spring at 70 degrees.....heelclickers with white spring....4.2 grams heel.....2.4 grams in pivot.....1.4 gram in tip. I used heavy hitter set screws to these weights or you can buy em at a hardware store. Close enuff?

Why do you say not to stud the 9830 track? Just installed one on my 2003 RX-1 shorty and plan on installing 144 studs up the middle with Woody's double digger pattern. Looks like this should be a good pattern for this track being it is mostly open in the middle. I hope that I am doing the right thing, please reply. :?

I have never used a micro belmont helix but the only one I have used that is wayyyyyy different is the advantedge. Most helix,s are with in 1-3 degrees. For studding I would probably tighten up the secondary to 80 degrees & it should get ya close.

I've got a 9830 on my 500, and with the Extreme Max stud pattern, it hauls great in icy trails. The track itself hooks up just as hard as studs on ice, if you're on hard packed snow! I ran the same track tension!

The more studs you add, the slower it'll go on top end. If I were to do it again, I'd got with Bergstrom Skegs Trail Grabbers, on an RX1, probably 400 of them. Tons lighter than studs, it probably won't lift the skis on ice, but you'll have control.
