So I ordered the 1.75" BC track for my 09 XTX, now what exactly do I HAVE to do to make it work. I have read a lot about extro's and changing the gearing, and removing the tunnel protectors. But, is all that necessary or can I just change the track and ride it. I do about 75-80% of my riding on the trails of the Black Hills, and I might ride down in Southern Colorado Rockies once or twice. Ready...set....goooo!

i put a 2" track on my xtx last year and all i did was cut the tunnel protectors off. Left the stock drivers on but i did go a little tighter with the track to help. May want to buy some ice scratchers if your riding a lot of trails.
Put on the 1.75 with extrovert drivers last year. I did remove the tunnel protectors and no issues at all. Best upgrade ever on that sled. Just installed a Push turbo kit... bring the snow!

On the XTX you can get away with the stock drivers. My buddy runs his without issue, even hill climbing in the mountains. That being said I would still put some in if there is room in the budget.
Tunnel protectors are no bid deal, I have pics in my build thread of cutting mine out. A few other guys have posted some pics and comments as well.
Good luck! I think you will enjoy that track

i ran a 136" bc last year on the stock drivers, removed the protectors, and had it really REALLY loose, never had an issue with ratcheting. basically all you have to do is remove the protectors to fit it and enjoy having traction!
