track on 09 nytro mtx

Lets not give up on this. That is what yamaha wants. They think summer will be here soon and we will back off. Just check out the Snowest forum it is full of people that have had the same problem as we are having. It is only the Nytros not the Apex with the Maverick. We need enough of us to complain and maybe we will get something done. Make sure you call customer service and get them involves the is power in numbers!

been there done that. I thought they were going to replace mine. Then my dealer call and siad that yamaha called him and said they would not replace the track under warrenty because it is a wear item and is not includrd in the warrenty. I ended up buying a challenger off snowest and putting it on my Nytro, with help from my dealer. good luck

My understanding is the Maverick is 'Designed' to do this to help get the track up on soft snow or some such thing. Your not likely going to get any resolution on this. Some guys turn the track around for a while, most replace it from what I've read. I cut 1/2" off mine so most of the bend portion is gone, but some still exists. The 2010 track is supposed to be a new durometer track so it should be different, not sure if it's any good though. ;)!

if the track was designed to do that, Why did they change the durometer. isnt that saying there was something wrong with the 08/09 tracks

That is what I would think. The previous statement about it being designed that way is BULL. You are right as to why would they change it then. They know they have a problem and don't want to admit it again.

The new track is also single ply so it's not 'just' a durometer change.

15x153x2.25-inch Single-ply Camoplast® Maverick™ track
Yamaha and Camoplast® collaborated in the development of the Maverick™ track. The 15x153x2.25-inch track uses a new durable single-ply design with a 3-inch pitch to allow more snow to pack in between the lugs for a firmer grip on the snow. Also, the lugs are extremely varied in design and profile for even more traction in multiple snow conditions. Yamaha engineers tried many different track designs and configurations, but none could consistently outperform this new Maverick™.

Funny that the other Manufacturers are useing CE's or as Cat is using the PowerClaw. My guess is that Yamaha got a GREAT deal on the over-produced Mav's and their consumers are fortunate enough to get one per sale, at no extra charge! :moon:

holy s^%t. its like a dfferent sled. that challenger hooks up. wish I would have made the swap sooner

Idaho,

Which track did you try? The Extreme? 2.25 or 2.5 and 153" or 162"?

What type of snow were you riding on? Climbing, Boondocking, Trails??? Thanks in advance for your answers.

its not the extreme. it came off an 09 m-8 I did a little bit of everything. I climbed hills that i couldnt climb with the maverick track. It doesnt trench like it used to either, Its a little noizy on the trail (vibration) but I think I can live with that. I would highly recomend to any one who hasnt swapped there Maverick out, just do it. You will not regret it. I might be going out again tomorrow and ill try to get some video.

If its off an 09 M8 it would be the new Powerclaw not the Challenger.
