track on 09 nytro mtx

My understanding is the Maverick is 'Designed' to do this to help get the track up on soft snow or some such thing. Your not likely going to get any resolution on this. Some guys turn the track around for a while, most replace it from what I've read. I cut 1/2" off mine so most of the bend portion is gone, but some still exists. The 2010 track is supposed to be a new durometer track so it should be different, not sure if it's any good though. ;)!
I just bought a 08 Mtx and was not sure if it was the right sled for me. the price was the winning factor....10000 cdn. An 09 ftx was 11700. I couldn't pass it up. I do a lot of trail riding along with the powder. I was thinking the 2.25 would be too deep for the trails. IMO the Mav may be better for me due to the fact that the lugs do fold. I now have a 2.25 that acts on the trail like a 1.75".
My first ride was on a hard packed trail with some icy sections for 35 miles before I got to any amount of powder, and never had a problem. I was going to cut my lugs as well, but have decided to try the track a little more as it may fit my riding style OK.
I can see how the track folding would be much worse for the more exterme mountain riders then me. It would piss me off too if I bought a sled for the sole purpose of mountain riding and had a crap track like that. For now, for me and my riding style it's fine.

When trying to use the folded over track on hard packed trails, the track feels extreemly loose due to the fact that there is no direct sharp pressure points on the ground. I'd say try it and when you find that it may not be what you want you can always trim it down as some of us have until you replace it with something else that fits your needs. For me I have abouit 1.75" to 1.85" left and I used some of those screw in type carbide studs in the outer mid lugs and it works awesome for me in our Michigan type snow. JMO
