just a few questions. im looking at going with a 15x1.5x144 crossover track on my 144" zx2 with avids. only thing is ive heard you have to remove the tunnel protectors which isnt a big deal. whats got me concerned tho is track ballooning and hitting the exhaust/connections. i would hate to get a 600$ track and destroy it or the exhaust.
do i have to remove them for a 1.5 track?
if i do remove them will ballooning be a problem?
is the dremel the easiest way to remove them?
I took mine out when I installed the Expert and Crossover. I ran an Excel undertunnel all last sewason and don't have a mark on it... even after casing a landing and BREAKING parts in my supposedly indestructible suspension. I runthe track with 1.5"-2" of sag and no pulldown. Just hangs there. Use your tool of choice for th tunnel protection removal. I DID leave the front protection in. It rubbed slightly for a couple hundred miles and quit. Youll be very happy with this track. I'm pulling it and putting it in my '11 Apex XTX and sticking a 1.75 Backcountry in the Attak. It's ALMOST to the point I can't trail ride it LOL!!
how bad is slightly for the front protectors? i assume both attak and apex has the same clearance measurements when it comes to that? also did you leave the drives stock, im looking at keeping the stock 9t but going with avid drivers.
also i believe this track is designed more off then on trail. ill being doing mostly trail riding. you dont think this will be to harsh for the sliders? keep in mind i dont have any ice scratchers either and the suspension is a zx2.
