I've been fighting with this off & on now for awhile.. Last year I switched the suspension to an expert X which I am very happy with except I am still fighting with high speed ratcheting. It does not ratchet at all on a dead start with good traction but when I get up over 120-130+mph on the speedo.. My track is not loose, it's not super tight but like I said it doesn't ratchet on take off only on high speeds.. I have Wahl antiratchets. I'm starting to wonder if it's a problem with the sprockets...? Maybe I have the expert-X set up wrong?? I have the transfer set to minimum. Do I need to drill a different hole in the front limiter straps too? Do I need to tighten it up even more?
Any help would be appreciated..
I always drop the throttle when it starts popping but one of these times I'm afraid my track is going to spit out the back or my drive shaft is gonna go south..

This is my 2nd expert , you should not be ratcheting at all ,even with stock drivers, I run my track tension about 1 1/2 inches hanging down off the rails, the expert will tighten with acceleration. I would look at your drivers . If I am not mistaken they,re were some issues with the Wahl drivers with the track climbing over the lugs . I have run 16lbs boost with mine and no ratcheting.

You might want to change to Ski Doo Drivers.

I had x-pert x on my 1st turbo build. I had no ratcheting anywhere at any speed with stock drivers. Anti-ratchets were just not needed at any boost level..
speed and I both run the ski doo drivers and experts, My track is loose to the point of hanging about 2-2.5 inches off the rails.
which I need to adjust and at that it still does not ratchet.

My sled would do this I replaced the track and that cured it, My track was balloning at high speeds getting out of sync with the 2.52 pitch then climbed up over the drivers only at 120 and up

You cant buy just the drivers from BRP anymore its been changed to a shaft assy, and these will be out soon I was told, 2.86 pitch replaces this now

but my track is 2.52 pitch.are you saying to use 2.86 on a 2.52?

Thanks guys, sounds like it must either be my drivers or my track..
I'm running my track tight enough so that it doesn't hang down at all.. probably close to stock yamaha specs. I also was thinking I had read in the past about some problems with the older wahl drivers...
Need for Speed - Maybe I have your old track! ha!! just kidding..
I've heard good things about the Avid drivers too.. Anyone try these?
Turk - I may change out my track to a 1.5 freeride or a 1.352 cobra & ditch the studs.. If I do this I may just put stock drivers in.. Sounds like they worked for you & it's gotta be smoother....? Most of my drag racing is on bomber trails on the lake anyway..
Thanks for the input guys

Do you run stud down the middle only?
The track may balloon up in the middle as well, this may cause the track to lift up from the extro cogs causing it to R, with the extros you have no drivers and cogs out on the sides anymore, just a thought. I had the same high speed issue running the whalbros, not with the doo drivers.

Yeah, it's looking like I may have a bad set of drivers.. Looks like the doo drivers are no longer available...
I guess it could be the track too.. I'm leaning towards the drivers though..
rxrider - Presently yes, I do only have studs going down the middle, however it did the same thing earlier last year with studs on all belts..

The Avid drivers are pretty good although with the expert you can go back to stock ones and have no problems, also is your present track fully clipped or did you open the windows only. may make a difference with the wahl drivers, another thing some of the guys have done is cut the wahl driver cogs a bit in between so they would lay flatter against the track, tightening up on the track is not going to help the ratcheing with the expert, it will just rob top end from you.
Go over on Snow west ,theyre are a set of used doo drivers for sale, I am pretty sure of

My present track is .75 x 136 & it is fully clipped.
I'm not sure what you mean by "some guys cut the wahl driver cogs a bit in between so they would lay flatter against the track" Could you expand on this for me?
Thanks Tony

My whalbros was out of round, with a huge runout it most directions. It was put on a lathe and ground down on the extro cogs, and the one on the side until the whals was close to perfectly round. The side cogs were out of position as well so grinding them down made them lay completely flat to the track, not so before the grinding.
