I've been having a problem with track ratcheting with my 07 RTX.

I started off setting the track tension to 35mm @ 22 lbs and found it ratcheted when traction was very good. Today I was finding when accelerating hard on hardpack with small patches of looser snow it ratchets when the traction improves again. Even tightened to 30mm@22 lbs it ratchets once in a while (this is Yamaha's spec for tension). The other Apex's I ride with aren't having any problems (monoshock skid though).

In deep snow when playing in snow drifts it also ratchets if I punch it, even at 30mm@22 lbs.

Reading through the forums there seems to be a few others complaining about this with the ProActive CK suspension - even with lower horsepower (Nytro).

I also suspect running the track at 30mm@22lbs today (for about 300 miles in good snow conditions) is what caused my premature hyfax wear/failure (see: http://www.ty4stroke.com/viewtopic.php?t=39923) so this doesn't look like an option.

I checked over the sled carefully and the track drivers are all keyed properly and everything looks good with the track. This has me baffled. I've never had a sled with this problem before.

Have any of you got the ProActive CK figured out when hooked up to the 150 hp motor (07 RTX)? Tightened limiter strap or something? What will stop the ratcheting and the hyfax wear at the curve?

I'm running a 9837H144 1" Predator 6-pitch fully punched and clipped track. I'm starting to think the only real all around solution might be to run anti-ratchet drivers.

My friend picked up a 07 RTX two days ago and we went riding in 30 inches of powder yesterday. His sled was ratcheting badly when he got stuck and when he punched it in the powder too, with the correct track tension. My monoshock had no problems all day running way looser. Today we are going to pull up his limiter strap and set up the suspension for less transfer. My proaction suspension on my 03rx1 used to ratchet alot and these things helped cure it. I will report back tomorrow and let you know how this worked out.

I'm going to do some measurements to see how what adjustment affects track tension.

I'll post what I find.

Reading through some of the forums it seems that the guys running Nytros are also having track ratcheting issues if they don't run their tracks right on the tight side of the spec.

With the extra 30 hp on the RTX...

My RTX still ratchets a little when its exactly at the tight side of the spec (I haven't tried playing with the suspension adjustments yet though - tomorrow).

The best all around solution might be to run anti-ratchet drive sprockets. What are the best ones to run on these sleds? Micro-Belmont? Wahl? Skidoo? ???

Are any modifications required to install them?
