TY 4 Stroke Junkie
I rode for 300 miles in the mountains of McCall this past week. Running at 1 1/4 inch sag I get the noise on decel. but the track runs noticeably freer. I tighten the track, even as tight as before antiratchets, I still get the noise, but the track feels tight. So I ran it lose and with all the great snow, forgot about the noise. I never ratcheted on accel. and I gave it alot of opportunity to. I think the noise is caused by the driver teeth slightly missing the track windows and then slipping in. I didn't clip the track after punching the windows and I notice the unclipped windows are quite a bit wider than the clipped ones. Therefore I guess the driver might not be meshing properly. Why it is smooth as silk on accel. I can't say. I don't see any track damage so I am torn as to wheather to clip the track or live with it. By the way, on straights I walked away from the three 800HO 151 summits I rode with and on the hills in the deep I consistently could blow above their marks. It was great to have the "uncool" sled and kick butt. Also, I finally gave up the stabilizer rod. I my opinion, the nice flat ride the rod provides while on the trail is far outweighed by the greatly improved sidehilling I get with it's absence. Another pound gone.
