In aligning the traction brackets for the Vector ER, I note that the last holetoward the back of the bracket on the running board side catches the edge of the heat exchanger body, and the second-to-the-last one catches the edge of one of the heat exchanger rivet ears. Drilling a hole in the heat exchanger body seems like a bad idea.
Solution? Leave that last rivet out? Go ahead and drill? Wrong bracket?

i don't suggest drilling into the heat exchanger body, u will have a big mess and lots of $$$ in parts! my viper was the same way, i just left that one out. the ears on it are not a problem though.
have you ridden the vector yet? ours is just sitting in the garage right now, waiting... gotta be good with the breakin though. the dealer said 600 miles, yamaha and the manual says 300 and then run it... any ideas?

I HAD THE TRACTION BRAKETS ON MY 03 FROM THE FACTORY THEY WERE DRILLED THROUGH THE HEAT EXCHANGER BUT CERTAINLY NOT WHERE ANY COOLANT RUNS...WHEN I WROTE IT OFF I TOOK THEM OFF BEFORE I TURNED IT OVER TO THE INSURANCE COMPANY...HAD THEM POWDER COATED AND I PUT THEM ON MY 04...DRILLED ALL OF THE HOLES INCLUDING THE ONES THAT GO THROUGH THE HEAT EXCHANGER...NOT A PROBLEM IT IS NOWWHERE NEAR WHERE THE COOLANT RUNS..

OK, thanks guys. You're right, that last rivet misses the coolant area of the H.E., so I'm just gonna go for it. On closer inspection, it looks like it should be no problem.
