01 SRX 700 - hopefully a Nytro on the way
Hello, lurked for years dreaming about getting a Nytro and boosting it.
Looks like it is about to work out for me hopefully with an FPP stage 1 kit!

had planned on an XTX, but right now toying with getting an 09 RTX for about 2K less then I typically see the 09 and up XTX's sell for.

will I regret this and wished I had gotten the XTX?
or would I have ended up getting a stronger/different skid for that as well.

I'm hard on equipment in general so wouldn't the RTX skid hold up better? what if I extend it to 136 or 144.

or long term would I want to upgrade either skid due to the power/etc of the turbo kinda negating the difference...

could I ride a season on the 121 turbo'ed or would that just be a bad idea with the power/track spin etc..

Thanks

Sorry for the Newb questions, never ridden a turbo Nytro...
but hit me up with anything that might be obvious to you, like oh no the drivers on the RTX wont work or the gearing blah blah... :)

info that might help:
Mostly trail riding, but want to play off trail and in pits etc and some bigger climbs..
weigh 220 (slowly dropping), very aggressive riding style - dirtbiker
Trails are a mix of tight and somewhat open in my area, and open up a lot as you head toward Bethel to Rangely. Try to get up to Millinocket every year for a 3 or 4 day mileage fest where its very open :)

last 2 sleds
06 Attak - love the power, hate the off trail... - SOLD
01 SRX700, love the handling and speed on the right trail, hate the lack of suspension and cant even daydream about off trail (working on changing that but that's another project :p) - Still Own

I have a 2010 rtx se .with turbo I also have 144 x 1 3/4 backcountry track and a whole lot more mods. sled is awesome if its done right you wont be dissapointed

A big part of how well your sled will survive depends on how diligent you are with the mainenance as well. If you keep up with it, you're less likely to have major breakdowns.
It sounds like you ride alot like I do and are a similar weight, but out of curiosity, what is making you lean towards a turbo? I'm sure there's many different people who'll contradict my opinion, but if you're typically a short burst rider, and ride twisties and other tight areas, I would think a supercharger would perform better for the type of riding you do? Granted, with enough tweaking you can do anything with either, but for the short bursts, a s/c is generally a bit snappier down low.

not so much breakdown, more concerned with breaking / bending stuff from playing, jumping, dropping etc..
I love turbos, Supers are okay, but don't have it up top. turbos, and technology has gotten so far that turbos have very little lag.
Fuel mileage on a turbo nytro can be better then stock (if you stay outta the loud handle) Supercharges drink fuel like like a fighter jet.
Coupled with the small fuel tank, not so much....
im a mixed rider, right near home is the evening "short" rides where I go crank for 2-4 hours after the kids are in bed. Given the opportunity, I get out for 200+ mile days. Sledding opens up to fast trails within a few miles from my driveway. So im kinda looking for the do it all sled. I think the Nytro XTX with a turbo is about as close to a do it all sled for me as there is. is it the best at anything? not really... but id does do adequately in both on and offtrail given a rider is okay with lots of rider input (dirtbiker :))

Oh and I did pick up the FPP turbo kit with 800 miles on it on Friday :P for a really really really really really good price.....

Really thinking the XTX would be a better start point for the $$ difference.... anyone??

right now could get an 09 RTX with 4500mi for 3400 bucks or an 09 XTX with 44oomi for 4K
both have aftermarket skis, xtx has picked track.

I would go with the Xtx if I was to do it again. This year I will be relocated and stretched to a 137. I run a sc at 10 psi and there was no way I would stay with the 120 another season.

2x on the xtx for sure you will need to put the power to the snow.

I stretched my 121 to a 144 with the muffin works kit and will never look back!
