My son just picked up a 2009 Nytro xtx, that previous owner installed a trail tank. We were going over the sled and noticed the trail tank just didn't sit just right. Pictures show two spots almost rubbed through. The weld from cast to the tube was rubbing on the tank. Just a warning for other trail tank owners.

Good call, I have a 2009 XTX with a trail tank, does not look like it fits too well either. I think these early versions of the trail tank didn't, there was an earlier version I think that was even worse then a better version, but not sure year that came out. Looks like your wear points are up near the heat shield, I'll check mine... see if it is systemic or a one off on your install.

My son also has a WRP seat could also contribute to the problem but it looks to be the tank to the square tube support for steering has interference.

Wife's XTX has both tank & seat with no fitting issues.

I thought about buying a trail tank for my 09 Rtx but after installing a bender helix, I am getting 16 mpg and gained 10mph on top end. The stock tank holds about 7.5 gallons with every bit of 7 gallons of useable fuel, I ran out of gas right at 120 miles on a full tank 2 winters ago.

Tom, did you do just the helix on the secondary or the full kit?

Just the helix @ stock degrees of spring twist and all else stock.
