I am a happy trail tank owner,installed on a 09 xtx last fall enjoyed the whole season without any issues,this pre season while looking over machine, i found that the front left side of tank where it sits on heat sheild above exhuast was a little melted spot, was not sure what to think, now it does not leak today but what about tomorrow,,,any body have this issue ,,,,,I do plan to call Trail tank sometime todat but its early and on sunday.....any thoughts...

trail tank said that was happening to some people, and they sent out some "kits" that had instructions and some heat blocking material to stick on the tank to prevent this. It was free, and I got one myself...haven't installed it yet but i'm going to before it snows.

I emailed trail tank and they sent me a heat shield patch to cover the area. there was no charge and it only took a couple of days to arrive. Great service!

Maybe it was just user error on the install?
