I have an Attak and am looking to join the boost club.
I was wondering what kind of range people can get out of a tank on thier Superchargers? I like the idea of the throtle response from the s/c but need at least 100 mile range. My understanding is that since they are always on boost the mileage goes way down. The HP on 7lbs setup seems about what I am looking for and the setup looks nice and clean.
Anyone have some good advice for me? ;)!

I myself am too looking for either a turbo or s/c for next winter.
I just keep hearing (but people like to say bad things) that these Apex kit, no matter the brand, keep blowing up. Blowing rods over on snowest...why hasn't anyone here mentioned that? And when I hear of blowups, it is never specified what kind of blowup occured.

How is the fuel being controlled on the Apex? With an FMU? Or is the boost Tee-d into the fuel pressure regulator, upping the fuel pressure, well the same as a FMU does??

Is this how it works? If so, where is it referenced from, before the throttle bodies, or after?

I am really yet to find out how all this works...I can only go off my supercharged Mustang knowledge.

So far I have had zero problems with my Sc trail riding with it and running it on the lake. I get 100 miles to a tank of gas right now and will continue to lean it down a little. You can adjust the fuel from the fuel control box that comes with the kit. I am using an Innovative gauge to watch my A/F ratio while dialing in the amount of fuel needed. On my sled I am running 3 stock head gaskets so I can run premium pump fuel all the time on 10 lbs of boost. I am using Ulmer Racings clutch kit that works very well. I wouldnt hesitate for a second to do it again.

Bossman, how many miles on your sled with the s/c?
Thanks

I have a supercharger on my warrior and am getting a little over 100 miles when the light comes on. This is trail riding, spending a lot of time out on the lakes and it will be less.

monker, thanks for the reply..but I think this post is for Apex's and such...

I've heard of guys getting absolutely terrible mileage on the EFI's!!!

no problem, just trying to add a little light to the subject.

With the proper tuning you shouldn't have any problem getting that kind of milage. It will depend on riding too. Spend all day out on the lake or hard into the throttle and milage will suffer. It takes fuel to make hp.

There's more to the sc/turbo than just bolt on and go.

I think that a lot of the problems that you read about on here and SW are on sleds the have not had extra gaskets or a shim added. These guys are counting on the gas they use to save their engines.

Bone stock engine here.

7PSI on the mpi charger

Hard trail riding IE 50-70 mph trails Im getting around 100 miles to a tank of fuel riding with my dad on the mach z 1000 on my tail all day I generally use 1 to 2 liters mroe fuel at the pump that not bad at all in my opinion. I have 1700 miles on the sled now 1300 of them boosted.

I generally run 91 octane only but when I go up north I take a couple 5ers of c12 and add a gallon to a tank for safety sake.

the bad mileage is from the guys riding in the mountains, I have ran out of gas in 43 miles with my turbo but that is climbing all day in deep and steep, in the boost hard all the time and loading the motor, the guys trail riding especially back east get very good mileage due to the fact that you can not hold it wide open every where you go. and you don,t put near the load on the motor on the trail as you do climbing a 1000 ft hill at 40 to 70 % grade in deep powder. depends on what kind of riding you want to due. and most of the problems you hear about are self induced due to too much boost for the qaulity of fuel they are running or mistakes made during assembly, I have ran two years 18-22 lbs no motor failures. I run the proper fuel for the boost I am running. it cost money to go fast and just because its a 4 stroke doesn,t mean you can skimp on fuel, if you want to run pump fuel set the motor up for pump fuel.

sc mpg

I get crappy mpg with my S/C RX1 but I ride on the trail for six miles then Its wide open on hills or in deep powder at 8-10000ft but I can still get 60 on it before the light comes on

87gtnos - I have about 320 miles on my sled now. The first 2 tanks of fuel seemed like I had a hole in my tank. I got about 60 mile to a tank. Now that I have been able to get the A/F closer to were it belongs my mileage has gotten completely better. I still need to lean it down a little but will be watching it close. The real bad mileage guys are seeing is probably either mountain riders who have it clamped in powder or guys not having A/F gauges to tune with and are way to rich.

JDKRXW - I agree with ya, to me its cheap insurance just in case you cant get good fuel.

Bossman if your at 800-1500' like myself these numbers will work wonders on your OH MY GOD factor and fuel mileage. You can't go any leaner on the 1.5 on the green or the sled will not run right at idle. It needs at least that much or it acts all weird and boggy lack of fuel etc. The rest of it is perfect for all trail riding Im gettinf fuel mileage now of 1-2 liters of a mach z 1000 on every ride. This is in 50-70 mph trails if you start hitting the lakes holding it on the mileage will go down.
