Hi there...guess I'm back! My last Yammy was an '04 Venture, then went yellow for 4 years...but I'm back now with an '11 Apex!

:yam:

Here's my situation...I would like to have 1 plug from my sled to snowcoach that will power:
1) tail light for Snowcoach (I'll tap to Apex taillight)
2) Switched (on/off) 12v accessory port, that will likely have one of those portable car defrosters used intermittently (clear condensation inside coach and gives off some heat). Guessing this will require direct battery hookup.
3) Alert button from snowcoach to a 6" LED strip mounted need gauge pod to alert me to stop (can never get those stupid communicators to work properly)

The Snowcoach currently has a 3 post flat connector from it, but I was wondering if I could swap out and upgrade to a 5 post trailer harness and run what I've indicated above off of the stock Apex and through that 5 post harness?

Any thoughts would be immensesly appreciated.

I can't see why what you are suggesting wouldn't work. That heater will be pretty hard on the battery. Just make sure that you charge it after using the heater.
1 ground wire
1 fused wire from battery > switch > heater > ground
1 wire to running lights > ground
1 wire to brake light > ground
1 wire from power supply > LED strip > switch in snowcoach > ground

Much appreciated!

Do you think the standard gauge wire harness will make do? Or will it required a heavier gauge harness? Not sure I've seen any, but will take a look...

Thanks again.

So I had no idea what a snow coach was. After doing some research I see a xmas present in the future. I did see one though that the guy had a deep cycle battery mounted on the rear and then hooked up a power inverter and heated blankets. How well do these things tow? What are guys paying for these new?

Got mind used for $1000. Tows super easy on stock bumper

I would go the deep cycle battery route if you are going to be using a heater. otherwise you will put your sled battery and charging system under some strain. Looks like you could build a mount to go on the back.

I'm looking at buying a new snowcoach. What speed do you pull the sleigh at? Does your snowcoach have the leaf spring suspension or coil spring with gas shock?

I haven't used mine yet, but it has the gas suspension and seems plush.

I wire up to sled using a 5 pole trailer harness...the heater will only be used intermittently at 10-15 minutes at a time (its one of those 12v portable defrosters), so I'm hoping that will reduce the strain on the battery. I'll post again once we get some snow and I get it out.
