Just purchased a used 2005 Karavan 2 place clam shell trailer with sno pro top. My question is, The clam shell support shocks will sometimes pop off the mounting balls. I do not have any retainer rings on them? Past trailers I had always had them ? I will stop at a traler place later this week and see what they say? Any ideas?
Thanks Blue

So at least on mine, I replaced the mounting ball stud with a bolt, and just drilled a hole through the ball mount on the shock. There is no need for a ball-joint socket on that, it only moves in one direction.

We use a couple of different brands of gas springs at work but they both use a small wire retaining clip like in the link attached. You could probably get by with the right size paper clip in a pinch. The round metal ends have a small circlip inside that snaps over the ball initially, and the second clip goes through small holes on the outside of the mount.

Thanks Guys, I figured there was some type of clip missing! Now I have a new issue front pivot point with bolt( piece of alum channel) broke.... not a good day! I will get a new piece of channel and drill and rivet in. I am sure the shocks popping off yesterday put extra stress on that front pivot point. Already many issues just to have a trailer for storage!
Should I get some extra support welded in?
Thanks again, Blue

I would just put the new piece on and see how it works. On my pivot point of my enclosed trailer I replaced the bolts, that the top pivots on,with stainless steel ones. Then I went and got some nylon washers to make spacers so the top can't move from side to side. It really helped out and solidified the front end.
