Has anyone trimmed the stock Maverick lugs down and got better hook-up? If so how low did you go, 1.75, 1.5?
Thanks

I trimmed mine to a 1.85" it did get rid of the limped over lugs. However I do not ride in the deep POW of the Mnt's often. The trimmed track made it work much better for cross-over type riding, with much better hook-up. My thought was that the track is far from ideal with the bent over lugs...so shorter, stiffer lugs may be better????? so far no regrets,( 600 miles since trimming) if I make it to the Mnt's next season, then a better 2.25" track will be in order for that trip.

It wasn't a maverick track but it was a 2 inch that I cut down to a 1.75 on my warrior. IMO it makes a superior track, real stiff with little flex. Worked good for a crossover.

Tonight I trimmed it to 1.75", did a pretty quick job since I have a new Camo 2.5" ready for next season I just don't want to run it in low snow condition. I'll post how the trimmed Maverick does.

Can anyone confirm how the trimmed tracks are holding up. Trying to decide if I want to do this myself as I do a lot of crossover riding.

It did not bend the lugs as bad, had better traction, gained speed but lost in the powder.

did you find it any better in Trail conditions?

On the trail it seem to bite better since the lugs were not folding over anymore.

Mine bites way better on hardpack, after trimming I wa able to drive in and out of my shop without spinning. I recently screwed in about 80 or so carbide tipped hard screws, bought them thru Dennis Kirk. So far only about 300 miles on them but haven't lost any yet. They do help on the icy corners and chutes. I can't beleive I trimmed the track.... but the OEM wasn't much of a track to begin with.

It killed me to trim the track to 1 3/4" but where I am it will be more than atiquate. But I do try and go to the mountains at least once a year and would have liked to keep it on. However the slider wear was brutal even in 50% off trail. I have read enough to know that the OEM track has recieved less than desirable reviews and figure I will get the better mountain track for when I do go to the mountains.
Just another exuse to have a few beers in the garage for a track swap!

Thats excatly is my situation. Most of the guys I X-country ride with have 1.75" or less lug height, so with the trimmed track and 153" length I do just fine. We're going west late March, I'm planning on a Power-Claw for that type of trip. Being non-boosted I'm kinda limited as to how much Steep this thing will tolerate anyway!

I trimmed mine to 1 7/8 inches. Dont laugh, but I used a hacksaw to trim them. Just pulled the sled off the rear of the trailer about 2ft and started cutting - rotated track - cut - repeat. It definately made the track perform better. I will however be replacing it with a powerclaw before next year.
Also, I have been experiencing a lot of hyfax wear. Recently, my sled was sitting next to my dads skidoo summit X on a trail and we noticed a lot more snow coming inside his track thru the extra holes in the center of the track. So, yesterday I took a 1 1/4 hole saw to the track. Cutting two holes down the center between each set of lugs. Hopefully this helps lubricate the hyfax a bit better. If not and the tack comes apart so be it, I'll just have to replace it sooner rather than later.
Cheers

I've noticed the same thing with my MTX and my buddies Summit. Let us know if you see any improvement and or durability issues.
