I'm going to upgrade the medium windshield on my GT to the custom Yamaha medium windshield. I want to cut down my original one to match the FX/RTX. The med custom windshield is only $84 but the smaller FX/RTX is $134!

Any suggestions on cutting it and does anyone know where I can find the pattern for it?

that is one thing i love about the rtx is the look of that windshield. not sure about any patterns, might have to find one and trace?

My dealer has an RTX on the floor and I may just ask if I can trace the windshield onto some cardboard. Heck I spent enough money there is the past week!

I cut the windshield on my Mountain Max with a wood burning iron or soldering iron that had removable tips. I used a tip that was similar to what you have on an box cutter or exacto-knife (not sure on the spelling on that). The heat from the iron melted the windshield and made a pretty nice cut. I was able to cover the edge with the trim no problem.

I cut down my Wife's aftermarket one on her '08 Kawasaki Ninja on the band saw at my work.
I just taped it all up with masking tape (so it wasn't getting scratched to hell as I was rotating it on the round side) and just followed the line I had marked out. Took a small file to the edge a few times then colored it back in with a black Sharpie, came out great. You'd never know it was cut down 4 3/4" off the top. ;)!

i did mine the lazy way. i just eyed it up, magic markered the line, & used tin snips.

The ZRX is an '02 1200r.
We rode out to Mt. Washington in New Hampshire, it's actually a low spot in the driveway (had rained in the morning).
Looks like oil though huh?

Thanks for the offer! I'll send you a PM when I'm ready to do it.

Hey Cubby, i'm in Anola, Ihave one I took off my 07 FX. I'll trade you.

I have cut down a couple windshields for my Rage. The one in my avitar is the most recent one. I use a jig saw with a fine tooth metal cutting blade. Put blue painters tape on the windshield to protect it from the jig saw base and so you can draw your cut line. You can sand the cut edge easily with sandpaper on a sanding block before you glue the trim on. G.B.
